Adama Sankoh, the last known Ebola patient in Sierra Leone has been discharged from the hospital. Her release was widely celebrated on the streets. The 34 year-old contracted the EVD from her 23 year-old son at Freetown.

Speaking after her release from the Ebola treatment centre in Mateneh village,‎ Sankoh vowed to start sensitizing people about the illness.

"Although my child died of Ebola I am very happy that I have survived today. ‎From now on I will be the number one messenger to sensitise people that although Ebola is on the run, vigilance should be the watchword".‎ She said.

‎Sierra Leone President, while presenting a certificate of discharge to the woman‎ told her that  "The Ebola fight is not yet over – go and tell members of your community that. Go back to your community and continue to live life as you used to."
