Adama Sankoh, the last known Ebola patient in Sierra Leone has been discharged from the hospital. Her release was widely celebrated on the streets. The 34 year-old contracted the EVD from her 23 year-old son at Freetown.
Speaking after her release from the Ebola treatment centre in Mateneh village, Sankoh vowed to start sensitizing people about the illness.
"Although my child died of Ebola I am very happy that I have survived today. From now on I will be the number one messenger to sensitise people that although Ebola is on the run, vigilance should be the watchword". She said.
Sierra Leone President, while presenting a certificate of discharge to the woman told her that "The Ebola fight is not yet over – go and tell members of your community that. Go back to your community and continue to live life as you used to."
