Manchester
United and Real Madrid have emerged the joint richest clubs in Europe. Dutch auditors, KPMG who conducted the study considered five significant financial factors for each team ; account profitability,
popularity, stadium ownership, broadcasting rights and sporting potential and
put their worth at £2.1 billion
“Our analysis of Europe’s 32 leading
football clubs highlights the changing economic landscape of football. While
football clubs are among some of the world’s most instantly recognised brands,
with truly global fan bases, their Enterprise Value when measured in a similar
way to any other business, is relatively small.” Andrea Sartori, KPMG’s
Global Head Of Sports stated.
