Like Petr Cech who was recently honoured for having the most number of clean sheets in Premier League history at 181 and for being the first goalkeeper to win the Golden Glove with two different clubs in the English top-flight – Arsenal and Chelsea, some notable sportsmen were also included in the Guinness Book of World Records 2017


Cristiano Ronaldo earned a spot for having the most followers on Twitter by any athlete, with a following of 47.4m. Everton’s Gareth Barry also holds the record for most Premier League starts by any player- pegged at 580.

Lagos State is about getting a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records after it hosted unarguably the biggest ever Monopoly competition at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere on September 30, 2016.
The state broke world record of “Most People Playing Monopoly’’ with 1,300 students competing at its “City of Lagos Monopoly” event, beating the previous record set at the Universal Studio in Singapore where 605 people gathered at the same place on March 19, 2016.

The event ’ was organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission in collaboration with Bestman Games. The state awaits a confirmation  by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The question is, who are the people that actually sat down and listened to a 139-hour lecture? Prolly officials of Guinness. 2 hours lectures in class at times can seem like 10 days. And then it becomes a 'sleeping forum' when the lecturer is slow and boring.

Arvind Mishra, has earned himself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for delivering the world's longest academic lecture. Titled Scientific
Computations, Mishra spoke non-stop for 139 hours, 42 minutes and 56 seconds; 5 days and 19 hours from March 1 to March 7 beating the previous record held by Errol Muzawazi who lectured on Democracy at Jagiellonian University in Poland for 121 hours in 2009.

"There's a lot I love about being a teacher. Teaching is one of the rarest professions that keep your brain young, allowing you to continue your own journey as a student and a lifelong learner. The one who does the teaching is the one who's doing the learning. Sharing knowledge, in my opinion, is a wonderful way of giving back what my gurus have imparted in me. The past couple of years at Graphic Era University have been such an enriching experience that I have decided to dedicate my entire life in this process of sharing and learning." Mishra; an assistant professor at Graphic Era University, India stated.
