Quick fire questions:
One fact most fans don’t know about you?
I’m asthmatic – I
don’t know how many people know about that. I was diagnosed when I was five
years old and I’ve been living with asthma all my life.
Favourite African city?
Cape Town, because
it is beautiful, the culture there is incredible. It’s one of my favourite
holiday destinations, because it’s very global, very European, but it’s
quintessential South Africa – the markets there and so many things come
together beautifully; our fashion, our music, our people. Cape Town really
personifies how beautiful South Africa is and what a great nation I think we
are.
Favourite far flung holiday destination?
I love Paris, I
love London and I love Los Angeles. And I love Mauritius.
5 things always in your handbag?
My cell phone, my
power bank to charge my cell phone, a pair of sunglasses, my asthma pump and my
Revlon lipgloss.
Who’s your favourite designer at the moment?
Hazra and Guccia –
I absolutely love him; I’ve worked with him numerous times over the years and
he just gets better and better. Internationally it has to be Balmain; I have
huge respect for Olivier.
Who do you stalk the most on Instagram?
I stalk a lot of
the Kardashians – I love what they wear, I love their family and I just love
their online presence on social media. I get a lot of style inspiration from
them.
I stalk
FashioBombDaily - their owner, Claire Sulmers, who I have great respect for,
and I also stalk Chrissy Teigen who I find really, really, really funny.
In Real Life, who is your favourite person right now?
My mother.

I've not been able to take my eyes off this magazine cover.
Such a beautiful concept...but for the peeping boy. It took a while to discover she was seating in a canoe and the peeper is actually the peddler. Great shot.
After her infamous separation from her ex-husband, Maje Ayida, Media personality, Toke Makinwa who
is gracing the cover of the FAME Magazine opened up about
finding love again. Excerpts from her interview below
It’s tricky! It’s exactly like learning to ride a bike again but I think I am doing very well. Laughs. Of course you get the initial stumble and fall off but the key is to accept that things are different now and that’s ok. My first date after my separation, I cried on my way home as I couldn’t believe I was back dating again, the stress and joys of getting to know someone again, the excruciating pain of the past and the will to trust another again.

Deola Sagoe 50? She looks 20 years younger. One has to wonder how she has managed to stem the tide of time. The ace Nigerian designer was featured in the latest edition of Thisday Style and leading photographer, TY Bello had this to say about the shoot.
DEOLA SAGOE: THE SPIRIT OF FREEDOM
My portraits of Deola Sagoe are on the cover of today’s Thisday style . You should go out and get this one . Her interview is amazing . I remember telling her over the phone the images I had of her in my head . I described the movements and fringe details. This amazing woman just went ahead .. Sketched her interpretation of what I had described and produced some pieces for the shoot.
More importantly she brought way more than the freedom and the spirit I had described. I can shout it from the mountaintop… Deola Sagoe is the most amazing subject a photographer can ask for . She connects so uniquely ..Her beauty runs deep and she’s understand what it means to be truly free. I still can’t believe this woman just turned 50.

My sisters, men who have broken your heart will always come back. ALWAYS. It may take weeks. It may take months. It may take years. It may take decades. But these jokers always tend to pop up at some point. Whether it’s a random “I miss you” text, or a comment on a Facebook pic that you posted 4 years ago, they always resurface. And usually, it’s when you least expect it.
Now, before you respond to his “How R U” text, consider how he treated you while you were going through the breakup. I believe you definitely learn more about a person AFTER you breakup than you did while you were together. But why do most guys come back?
Here Are My Top 5 Reasons Your Ex Will Come Running Back:
1) He wants to ensure that you haven’t moved on before he does. He can’t stand the thought of you moving on without him. This type of ex really doesn’t want to be with you. He simply wants to do just enough to ensure a new man doesn’t come along and pick up the pieces that he shattered. This way, he can always use you as a back up plan if he needs to.
2) He KNOWS that you will take him back. No matter how bad he messed up, he knows that you will give him another chance because you have done it so many times before. Sis, every time you take a guy back after he has dogged you, you will lose more and more value in his eyes. A woman who truly respects herself is not going to stay in, or give 5th and 6th chances, to a man that has treated her terribly.
3) His “rebound” relationship failed, so now he’s back to make you his “rebound’s rebound”. I will be doing a post on rebounds (and how to avoid becoming one), soon.
4) He knows that he was wrong and the guilt is eating him alive. In an attempt to make himself feel better, he wants you to validate that he is not as horrible as he feels. When this type of ex reappears and you entertain it, it clears his conscience and makes him feel that his behavior towards you was acceptable. No one wants to “feel like a mumu”, even if they behave like one. He’ll do his best to get back into your good graces. And then shortly after, he’ll disappear again.
5) He genuinely is sorry and realizes what he had. He has taken the time to mature and reflect and he knows that he lost a good thing. But you must remember, the relationship ended for a reason. As tempting as it may be, it’s probably best to leave this door closed. His change will be evident by him making better decisions in the future. And unfortunately, your situation may be what he needed to grow and make better decisions with the next woman- not you.

Are you an expectant or new mum? Confused about where to buy your baby accessories from? Look no further, visit Jiji.ng
The abundance of goods for newborns in the modern market is just great. But don't you panic! We'll show you what to buy for the child’s birth at the optimum level, which will allow you not to spend all of your money, and will ensure the baby and his/her parents a comfortable living.
The newborn baby is not only a flurry of emotions, the endless process of photo-shoot, some percentage of fatigue and fears, and the boundless sea of love. A little baby always needs a huge amount of stuff.
It is clear that the needs and abilities of each family are individual. But there is a universal list that you want to buy before the birth of a child. It includes the following categories:
For sleep: crib or cradle;
For walking: stroller;
Care and hygiene accessories;
Clothing and diapers;
And if for some reason you are unable to breastfeed, you will need a bottle sterilizer and a mixture suggested by an experienced pediatrician-neonatologist.
The list of necessary Accessories for kids:
1. Cradle for a newborn;
2. Waterproof oilcloth (it is better to choose breathable one, this way the child will not sweat too much);
3. Blankets: thin and warm (woolen or feather, depending on weather conditions, and the climate). Lately pediatricians advise to use a special "sleeping bag" instead of blankets - it keeps the same temperature at any time of the year and in any weather.
4. Sheets. If you lay the child in a sleeping bag, then you will need only the linens. You won't need covers and pillowcases.
5. A pillow. Typically, a child under one year sleeps without a pillow. But if you think it's needed, orthopedists advise to buy the flattest one — not exceeding 1 cm. Otherwise, kid's movable vertebras will form incorrectly.
6. Special "nest" for your baby. It is worth to include this product in your shopping list if your baby sleeps bad and "calls" you more for calming than when he is hungry. "The nest" is a limited space made of soft cloth from which the baby can't fall off, but where it is very easy to reach him. You can place “the nest” in your bad. Dimensional breathing of sleeping mom and dad will soothe a baby. In doing so, for the sake of security you should put it near the wall, rather than at the edge of the bed. And do not cover a newborn with your blanket!
On Jiji.ng the biggest marketplace in Nigeria, you will find a great assortment of accessories for baby and kids. You can be sure that you will find quality products
at best prices. Also, you can post here your own free ad, if you want to sell something.

Cancer Survivors' Day is an annual worldwide celebration of life that is held each year on the first Sunday in June. It is the one day each year when people around the world join together to honor cancer survivors. Today, Sunday, June 5, 2016, is Cancer Survivor’s Day 2016 and we all at Project PINK BLUE gladly celebrate cancer survivors in Nigeria, Africa and all over the world.
Cancer is not just a disease; it is a burden that when it befalls any individual, it’s impacts on everyone around the individual. Cancer has defined with different pathetic axioms in Nigeria due to the severe pain, lost and low survival rate. So many families have spent millions of naira on relations who were diagnosed with cancer, but painfully after spending the millions they possibly lost the relation. The above narrative explains why so many people feel very bad when the word “cancer” is mentioned around them. It brings back memory of lost, lost and gross lost. The pain is so terrible that sometimes caregivers feel helpless.
In Nigeria, cancer is responsible for 3% of total mortality, leading to 72,000 deaths per annum. This number is set to increase given that there are 102,000 new cases of cancer every year. The mortality incidence ratio for liver cancer is 0.97 (97%) while cervical cancer is 0.58 (58%) and breast cancer is 0.51 (51%). Liver cancer is the second leading cancer death in Nigeria and it is associated with viral hepatitis, which is virtually unknown to the general public, including some fractions of health-care providers. Complications of viral hepatitis infections such as cirrhosis of the liver, liver cancer and liver failure associated with liver cancer affect mostly people at their prime of life. Epidemiological study reveals that 1 in every 8 persons in Nigeria is living with viral Hepatitis and about 22 million Nigerians are estimated to be infected with either HBV or HCV. 90-95% of Mother to Child Transmission of viral hepatitis ends in chronic hepatitis and in the absence of treatment, 15 – 40% of persons living with viral hepatitis will develop liver cirrhosis and/or liver cancer.
Incidence of cancer has been increasing in most regions of the world, but there are huge inequalities between rich and poor countries. Incidence rates remain highest in more developed regions, but mortality is relatively much higher in less developed countries due to a lack of early detection and access to treatment facilities. For example, in Western Europe, breast cancer incidence has reached more than 90 new cases per 100 000 women annually, compared with 30 per 100 000 in eastern Africa. In contrast, breast cancer mortality rates in these two regions are almost identical, at about 15 per 100 000, which clearly points to a later diagnosis and much poorer survival in eastern Africa (WHO/IARC 2013).
The above statement from WHO gave two reasons for higher cancer death/lower survival rate in Nigeria. It is on this premise that we are using this special day to deepen our advocacies and campaigns urging the Nigerian government to make cancer control a national health priority issue and set-up appropriate agency for cancer control. More Nigerians are dying of cancer because they cannot afford cancer, with an agency on cancer control, pharmaceutical companies can be persuaded to reduce the cost of chemotherapy. More cancer patients are absconding from cancer care due to the frustration they face, waiting for days to receive care, sometimes the radiotherapy machine breaks down for weeks; sometimes women have travel from Enugu to Ibadan, on getting to Ibadan, the Ibadan machine is down; they leave Ibadan to Abuja, then Zaria, later Sokoto. People crisscross Nigeria for cancer treatment battling accommodation and transportation issues as well as their illness. The above challenges have triggered comments like “only wealthy Nigerians survive cancer”. Today, United States celebrates 14.5 million people living with cancer and beyond cancer, how many cancer survivors are celebrating?
Project PINK BLUE proudly works with one male breast cancer survivor and three female breast cancer survivors. We celebrate them and we are also aware that they are so many other cancer survivors across Nigeria doing amazingly fine. They profess that they are alive today because their cancers were detected early and they took actions to save their lives. We honour, love and respect them! Honour a survivor today by going for screenings because early detection saves lives.
As the number of cancer survivors continues to grow globally, it is becoming ever more important to address the unique needs of these survivors. Many face stigma, limited access to healthcare specialists, a lack of information about promising new treatments, inadequate or no insurance, difficulty finding employment, and psychosocial struggles. Once active treatment ends, cancer survivors still must cope with the long-term effects of cancer, which can include ongoing physical side effects as well as potentially devastating financial setbacks.
Join us today and show LOVE to cancer survivors, we at Project PINK BLUE call them champions!
If you know any Cancer Survivors, or have lost any relations to cancer,
Please: Like, Share, Tag a friend, and comment. Let’s celebrate this cancer champions!

To mark National Children’s Day, thousands of people from all
over Nigeria including celebrities will march to shine a spotlight on the
plight of the millions of children who suffer violence every year in Nigeria,
calling on communities to break the culture of silence.
The Nigeria Violence Against Children Survey (carried out
by the National Population Commission, with the support of UNICEF and US
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), launched by Government of Nigeria
in September 2015, highlighted the prevalence of sexual, physical, and emotional
violence suffered by children in
Nigeria. The survey estimates that half of all children in Nigeria experience
physical violence, one in four girls and one in ten boys experience sexual
violence and one in six girls and one in five boys experience emotional
violence before they reach the age of 18 years.
The majority of children
never tell anyone what has happened to them. Less than 4% get the help they
need to recover.
“This culture of silence
must be broken”, said Oluwadamilola Apotieri-Abdulai, Convener of the
iMarch4Children and CEO of Playback Nigeria. “At the launch of the Presidential Year of
Action to End Violence Against Children on 15th September 2015, His
Excellency President Buhari called upon every Nigerian to play their part to END
VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN in Nigeria. #iMarch4Children is our response to raise
social awareness of this acute problem facing millions of children and to mobilize
communities to take action”.
Playback Nigeria, with the
support of UNICEF, has partnered with Civil Society Organizations across 12 Nigeria
states and the FCT to march for children.
The #iMarch4Children art-based
project will take place in Lagos, Kaduna, Gombe, Cross River, Plateau, Ebonyi, Abia,
Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Delta, Rivers State, and Abuja on the 27th of May
2016 by 8am, bringing together children and young people of different age groups
and backgrounds, religious and cultural leaders, the general public, celebrities
and public figures who have been identified as #iMarch4Children Ambassadors.
All participants will dress
in a way that depicts the impact of violence against children, in order to shed
a light on the silent suffering of millions of Nigerian children. A communique
would be delivered to the Government in each state and at the Federal level on
behalf of the CSOs after which a Die-In activity would be conducted, a process
which will involve participants lay on their back to reflect on millions of
children that have died as a result of violence against children. A daily
tweet-meet was launched on social media through tweeter handle @iMarch4Children
on the 1st of May 2016 to afford different stakeholders the
opportunity to share their views on issues related to VAC.
“No one Ministry or Organization
can effectively address violence against children alone”, said Jean Gough,
Representative UNICEF Nigeria, “Violence against children can only be ended
through a united and concerted effort by Government, CSOs, religious and
traditional leaders, the media, communities and families”.
To participate in the march,
citizens are encouraged to contact their state mobilizing partners or contact
Playback Nigeria on twitter: @iMarch4Children, @PlaybackNigeria or call 08038288609,

Nollywood actors, Gbenro and Osas Ajibade are parents to-be!
The couple who tied the knot in Benin and New York last year made the announcement in the brand new June issue of Genevieve Magazine. On why she kept her status quiet, the former beauty queen said "I don't want to jinx this pregnancy".
Congrats to them.

Boy or girl? It is one of the first questions people ask pregnant women,
among the other usual ones. No sooner have you announced your
pregnancy, people begin guessing the baby’s gender. And, predicting a
baby’s gender is fun, and the curiosity is infectious. As a parent, you
could be curious about yourself and others.
You can also consider some gauging activity. But, can you predict a
baby’s gender simply by looking at the womb sans an ultrasound or any
medical technology?
And, many women gaze at the womb. We aren’t talking about the
pregnancy bump, but its shape. I remember someone asking me about the
form of my baby bump; whether it was oval or circular. I don’t know how
that could help reveal the baby’s gender or how it could be medically or
rationally supported.
But hey, there is some serious, sinister stuff about the whole gender
guessing thing. Because, how could our grannies guess correctly, most
times, even before there were procedures like ultrasounds? Is it a
family top-kept secret that only they keep? Is it art? Does it have any
psychic bearings? Or is it simply a sham?
While the medical field has come far enough to debunk these old granny’s tales, but the stories refuse to go away. And you know why. Well, sometimes they work out for no reason. Coincidence? No one knows. But here are some interesting ways to predict your baby’s gender. So, read on and be amazed:

1. Drano-Pee Mixture Test:
Mix nearly two tablespoons of Drano, a de-clogger, with ounces of morning pee in a glass jar. Check for a smoky, chemical reaction. If the mixture turns brown, it’s a boy. If the mixture doesn’t change, it’s a girl. On occasions, the mixture could turn yellow or blue owing to the noxious blend of urine and chemicals, but what you make of the final color is your call. Moreover, it’s recommended that pregnant women steer clear of these chemical reactions.

2. The Garlic Test:
This one is not for garlic haters. Eat a clove of garlic. If your skin stinks for a long time, you are going to have a boy. If you don’t emit any smell at all a few days later, then you are going to have a girl.
3. Baking Soda:
Take urine in a transparent cup containing two tablespoons of baking soda. If the mixture fizzes out like soda, you’ll have a boy. If it remains flat, it means you are going to have a girl.

4. Red Cabbage Test:
Buy some red cabbage. Chop it. Put the pieces in a bowl. Pour boiling water in the bowl containing the chunks such that it the water covers the whole stuff. Let it settle for 10 minutes. Decant the water into a transparent glass. Now add few ounces of pee in it. If the color changes to purple, you are going to have a boy. If it changes to pink, you will have a girl!

5. The Ring Test:
This one has been popularized by young girls who acquired the wisdom from their grandmas. All you need to do is to tie a string to a distinctive ring. Suspend the string with the ring dangling from it. You can ask a friend to help with setting the string into motion over your belly or your wrist. If the ring oscillates to and fro like a pendulum, it’s a boy. If it goes round in a circular motion, it’s a girl.

6. The Key Test:
Too simple to be called a ‘test.’ All you need to do is to ask family
or friends of moms-to-be to ask their pregnant friend to pick up a
house key. If she takes the key by the narrow end, it’s a girl. If she
picks it up by the rounded end, it’s a boy!
7. The Acne Test:
It is said that if you have a little girl inside you, she steals all your beauty. It’s why some pregnant women become darker, have patchy skin, or acne during pregnancy. On the other hand, if your skin remains smooth, then you are going to have a boy.

8. The Mayan Test:
The Mayan way of predicting the gender of the baby took the woman’s
age during conception, and the year of birth into account. . If both the
numbers are odd or even, it’s a girl. If one is odd, the other is even;
it’s a boy.
9. Chinese Calendar:
Now, this one is a bit similar to the Mayan system, and women swear by its accuracy. The Chinese calendar looks at the age when you conceive and the month you conceive and calculates it according to their calendar. And the result is typically 90 percent accurate.

These, and much more, myths or mysterious ways of predicting a baby’s
gender have been a part of many cultures worldwide – some are universal
while some have their roots in popular culture. Wacky as it may sound,
but if your test has confirmed a prediction, then kudos, you have just
proven the ancient unexplained secret methods of predicting if it’s a
boy or a girl!

From my marriage counselling experience, I have come to the conclusion that most men of today are the weaker sex, at least emotionally.
How many of us can control our emotions that we resort to using our wives as punching bags, abusing alcohol, or other methods of lashing out because we are not emotionally strong enough to hold our cool.
A lot of us can't keep up with both working a full time job and managing a household, raising children to the extent that women do everyday. I know some of you would say, that's not a man's department.
I have come to the conclusion that we need women more than the women need us. If not for our money or our sperm, women really have no real need for us.
Men are big babies because they always want everything to be about them and the women know this and know how to massage/manipulate our ego.
Most men can't really control their sexual urge, that's why some of us can have sex even with our housemaids or anything in skirts.
Male death rates are greater than comparable to female rates for almost all major causes of death. Men die younger from heart disease, cancer, stroke, chronic lung diseases, infections. Men are also much more likely to commit suicide than women and have a greater chance of being murdered or dying in an accident.
Abegi, this is just my take. How Una see this matter, because heavy wahala dey ground o!!!!!! -

Clinginess is a natural reaction to feeling fearful or anxious about something. In young children, clinginess is often a sign of anxiety caused by being separated from a primary caregiver. It is also common for children to exhibit clinginess when things feel unpredictable due to changes occurring in their environment (e.g., entering school, change in caregivers or routine, new baby, divorce, or a death in the family).
10 ways to handle an anxious and clingy toddler.
1) Do not ignore, overtly discourage, or punish clingy behavior: When young children exhibit clingy behavior, it is generally viewed as a positive sign that your child feels close and secure in your care and seeks you out for comfort when they are feeling distress. Responding to clingy behavior by ignoring or punishing it may make your child less likely to come to you when she is feeling scared or vulnerable.
2) Be responsive to your child’s needs and feelings: Try to identify what might be causing the clinginess and describe her feelings so she begins to understand it. For example, “You wish mommy could play with you right now. I wish I could play too but I have to do work. I promise to play with you when I’m finished.” By describing her feelings and expressing your own feelings of wanting to be there for her, she will feel understood and be less likely to need your physical presence as reassurance.
3) Increase predictability: Try to make things more predictable for your child by making the schedule or routine as concrete as possible. Although we know our children’s schedule, they may not. Young children do not have a clear sense of time, live mostly in the here and now, and have shorter memory spans. Using pictures to depict their weekly schedule (especially when it changes every two to three days), telling them what to expect next, and reminding them when you will be available to spend time with them (e.g., “Remember, our special playtime is after dinner”) will help reduce anxiety by bringing a sense of orderliness and structure to their day.
4) Build autonomy: Children build self-confidence through mastering new tasks and contributing to their environment in a helpful way. Create tasks that your child can help you with at home such as setting the table, cooking, or cleaning up their toys. The more confident a child feels in their abilities, the more secure they will feel in any environment.
5) Praise steps toward independence: Praise your child for tasks or activities that they are able to do independently (e.g., household chores, playing nicely on their own or with peers). Praising your child for doing things independently sends the message that they are capable of doing things for themselves and should feel confident without your close supervision and guidance.
6) Schedule special playtime: Some children feel a constant need for affection because they are unsure when or if the attention will be available. Schedule 5 to 10 minutes every day when you can provide your child with undivided attention (i.e., no computer, conversations with others, cell phones, or other distractions).
7) Separations and saying good-bye: Use a consistent phrase when saying goodbye. Be brief, do not linger, and do not overreact if your child gets upset after saying goodbye. Overreacting will only feed into her anxiety and make it worse, while lingering will increase the likelihood that she will continue to cry or seek your affection to prolong your stay each time.
8) Don’t sneak out when you leave: Some parents find it easier to sneak out when children have a hard time or throw a tantrum each time they leave. However, this will only increase your child’s anxiety and clinginess because they will be scared to engage in any activity too long for fear that you may sneak out and disappear at any moment.
9) Increase social activities: Socializing with children of the same age can help children develop attachments to their peers and can build social skills necessary for interacting with people outside of the immediate family. Set up regular play dates with a peer of your child’s choice from school or schedule a class or weekly trips to the park.
10) Stay with your child during social activities: Play with your child and their friends until they are comfortable playing on their own. Be available during play dates to teach and model social skills, respond to conflict, and monitor situations that may cause stress or anxiety.
Finally, clinginess is usually temporary and passes after children adjust to changes and develop skills to be more independent and interact with their peers. But if clinginess continues and leads to lengthy tantrums and resistant behavior when separated from parents and refusal to go to school or engage in social activities, you may want to consult a mental health specialist.

This article was inspired by a friend of mine who asked me to write this so other ladies can learn from her mistake. She had a nice paying Oil and Gas job and was dating the guy of her dreams for 3 years, he then got a job in the US, so he asked her quit her job and follow him without a ring on it or any strong commitment, so she resigned and moved with him.
.
Fast-forward 4 months later in the US they broke up. She's back in Nigeria now single, unhappy and unemployed. Conflict Resolution in Industrial and social Psychology has compromise as one of its major techniques of solving any problems or alleviating an Intense situation.
.
This being said, ladies don't make a big compromise without a big commitment, it may sound selfish but it's a form of "relationship Insurance". A lot of ladies today allow emotions and love cloud their basic cognitive or rational thoughts. Some ladies forfeit their masters or education for their boyfriends, quit jobs to be house wives, empty their accounts for their bf to start a business, move into a guys house ( washing, cleaning, cooking, sewing), refuse a promotion at work, step down from running for office or any campaign.
All these are good and perfect things to be done for your man if he has stepped up, when I mean step up I don't mean a promise or engagement ring but a court registered wedding because engagements these days are " a dime a dozen". Some ladies have used up a lot of their Emotional, Physical, Financial resources on guys that will use those resources to elevate themselves and marry someone else. .
Every man wants and needs a supportive Partner, and ladies want recognition for helping their men but there are some sacrifices or compromise that require a strong commitment, you don't want to be left hanging or lost in the wind. A lot of Ladies have suffered Depression, Bulimia, Suicide attempts because they over comprised and their partner married someone else. Make smart decisions.. Big Compromise, Big Commitment.

Jumoke Orisaguna is still living large! The beautiful mother of two who has a few number of endorsement deals in her vault looks absolutely beautiful in these promo shoot for Shirleys Confectionery. To those who are not familiar with her story, Jumoke was just an ordinary girl before fate and chance decided otherwise few months ago. And during that period, she has rubbed shoulders with the high and mighty and stepped her foot in places she (probably) dreamt of. Her life is a testament to the fact that when God decides to treat your case file, he will thrust you beyind barriers of the past into the extraordinary life he designed for you. And what ordinarily should have taken years if not decades to establish, God can do in a split second.
