Former coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are still at loggerheads. The ex footballer who coached the national team from July 4, 2015 to February 2016 took to his official twitter page to appeal to the football body to pay his outstanding wages and that of his assistant.

"Hope the NFF will pay coach Losciuto & myself the huge amounts they still owe us without litigation whilst we are alive! Pray they listen! For 5 months, Losciuto's lawyers' letters to D NFF have been ignored.Should CAS suspend Nigeria it is not his fault.B4 they lie 2 you again!" He wrote.

The NFF swiftly debunked the claims on their social media platform.

"The NFF can confirm it is not owing former @NGSuperEagles coach Sunday Oliseh, any money whatsoever" It fired back.

Immediate past  coach of Nigeria national team, Sunday Oliseh has been appointed as a  member of the FIFA technical department. The ex international announced the news on his official Twitter handle, @SundayOOliseh, this morning.

“Honoured To Be Appointed Into the “new look” FIFA Technical Department. Next mission; The 2016 Rio Olympics Football.” Oliseh tweeted.

Ex Golden Eaglets coach, Godwin Izilein has described the appointment of Sunday Oliseh as Super Eagles coach as the worst fraud ever committed by the the NFF under the leadership of Amaju Pinnick. Oliseh was appointed as a replacement for Stephen Keshi who was fired July 2015.
“The worst fraud that the NFF under Pinnick has ever committed on Nigerians is the appointment of Sunday Oliseh as the Super Eagles coach. Nobody was carried along, NFF president only met with him at a bar in London and announced to Nigerians, Oliseh will be the Guardiola of Africa. This is a man that has never coached any known club in his life. So, what was the yardstick for measuring his competence physically and mentally?” He asserted.
Izilein continued, “Amodu Shaibu was appointed for Eagles, NFF owed him, Christian Chukwu was there, NFF owed him, Stephen Keshi was there, the same thing happened, Austin Eguavoen others too, it was same story. What made Oliseh special that he got all the upfront payment? Such treatment is suspicious and nothing more than fraud, bias and wasteful spending.”
Oliseh also denied reports that he was paid upfront by the NFF after his unveiling in July 2015.
“When it comes to money, I am disappointed because based on what I’m being owed I should have stopped working, my assistants should also stop working. They make people think I was paid in advance, which is not so and am still waiting to be paid. The only thing is that I just decided not to go public with it.”

Former Super Eagles Manager, Stephen Keshi, has described the recent summon of Sunday Oliseh to the National Assembly as an act of favoritism. Keshi opined that the same invitation should have been extended to him and the likes of Christian Chukwu, Shuaibu Amodu and Austin Eguavoen, who would also like to account for their run in the national team.
Speaking through his Manager, Emmanuel Addo, for the first time since his wife's demise, the ex international said “Most of the coaches in the past were fired but Oliseh chose to resign, so why the special interest on him. I might be mourning the exit of my life partner but the fact remains that Nigerian football is being unduely distracted and the only way to get it back on track is to ask the real stake-holders to come together and talk. Whether they are coaches, ex-internationals or sports politicians, its about time to talk and talk seriously.”

Former Nigeria national team handler, Sunday Oliseh has withdrawn a law suit against the Nigeria Football Federation  saying it is in the interest of the country. He made the announcement in a recent video posted on youtube. The former Nigerian captain has also insisted that no payment was made into his account

“I have instructed my lawyers to withdraw the law suit against the NFF. After speaking with well-meaning Nigerians, who I respect a lot, I also believe it is useless joining issues with people who are bent on deceiving Nigerians and misleading Nigerians and diverting attention from the reality.

“Certain vested interest in the NFF put their own interests first before that of Nigeria. My position of putting Nigeria first was a hindrance to certain vested interests in the NFF. If you put Nigeria first, you will always have problems with the NFF. This also explains why the benefits of players and wages and coaches are always placed secondary, while other things like team building trips (for FA chairmen) will always be catered to first.”

He also accused the organisation of imposing players on him.

“I asked technical committee for information to help us against Egypt since July 2015, but I got no such information. Instead what they found more important to them was who will play for Nigeria, who is invited, who will play and I refused because they are not coaches.” He added.

FULL TEXT OF OLISEH'S VIDEO

Hello my name is Sunday Oliseh and have instructed my lawyers to withdraw the law suit against the Nigeria Football Federation after speaking with well meaning Nigerians whom I respect a lot.

I also believe that it’s useless joining issues with people who are bent on deceiving Nigerians, misleading Nigerians and diverting attention from the reality and the reality is that I decided to resign on the 25th of February because certain vested interest in the NFF put their own interest first before the interest of our country.

But I also believe that Nigerians deserve to know the truth, I feel that it is important to know that my position as regards Nigeria coming first was a hindrance to the personal interest of certain vested interest in the NFF and for that reason anybody who is gonna come in and be in my position as chief coach and who put Nigeria first will always have problems that is for sure.
Now this also explains why importance of very necessary expenditure that are important for the progression of our country like wages of players, benefit of players, the coaches are always placed secondary whereas other expenditures that have very little bearing to the progression of our country will always be cater to first.
For example you know team building a trimester we don’t really need that for our national team to progress.
I also feel in order to no let Nigerians get the true picture they are just bent on tarnishing my image that is why they have come up with stories like they paid me then I left , I have attached underneath here since the federal government hearing is not gonna hold today, I have attached underneath here statements of my account of the Zenith Bank the bank they NFF dealt with me the few occasion I have been paid.
I have attached it underneath here and you can see from the month of February that no payment that was made from the NFF to me uptil the time I resigned on the 25th and even wayward after that on the 29th that the month ended you can see that.
I also feel that it is right you know that I asked the technical committee for information, for materials to help us as regards to Egypt and I asked them way back as July 2015 as at the time I resigned on the 25th of February 2016 there was no information for us even though I demanded them on several occasions by emails also so there’s proof of it so they dare not deny it but what I feel they were more important about or what they find more important to them was trying to influence who plays for Nigeria, who get invited, who will play and obviously I refused because they are not coaches.
I also feel that it is unfair but that notwithstanding to treat players the way they did the way the players are being treated because it influences how the players perform and how they react so for that reason I have attach here also, please find attached also the proof, the invoice of the food that they are saying I didn’t buy in South Africa I have attached it here for you to see and that shows you that where in the world does the national team coach of the first team buy food for the team we are the richest Africa Nation.
So that alone I leave you to judge yourself now since I did not want to be part of this of putting Nigeria second and personal interest first there was no way this could continue and I felt it was time to let be that was why I resigned bye bye, thank you bye.
On the 16th of February I wrote a demand letter to the Nigeria Football Federation and I gave them an ultimatum for the 25th to settle issues dating way back as to July 2015 and almost by midnight when that ultimatum was not met I resigned, no phone call was made no email was made to try to address this demand later and it was very clear and when I resigned, I resigned by email and I resigned also by postmail and even afterwards the president and the Vice President called me and we spoke about this almost till 2am and they tried to convince me not to do what have done but the decision has been taken and before even that I contacted the minister with due respect to Nigeria and to him before I even resigned I called him to tell him as the father of Nigeria sports, so I don’t really think you need too much convincing because you’ve always known that our federation what they are like that but then it was a pleasure to have serve Nigerians, I do love you Nigerians, thank you once again

Former Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh has reportedly flown into the country to  appear before the House of Representatives committee on sports Thursday in Abuja to discuss his exit as National team handler.

A top source at the National Assembly told AfricanFootball.com: “Oliseh has been invited by the committee on sports. He is to give his own side of his resignation story.”

“You know Oliseh, he will not hold back anything, he will give details of how some top officials made sure they frustrated him because they were not the ones who facilitated his appointment.

“You should expect him to shoot from the hips.” Another source revealed.

The conflict between former Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh and the country's governing body, the Nigeria Football Federation has taken another dimension with the latter vowing to meet the ex footballer in coach.

Prior to this development, Oliseh had threatened to sue the NFF over claims that he has received backlog of salaries.  Oliseh who stepped down from his post as National team handler last week wrote on his website that no payment was made into his account.

"I wrote an official demand letter to the Nigeria football federation through the General Secretary requesting payment of salaries and bonuses that were already long due and pending. In my said demand letter I listed 11 unpaid heads and articles. These 11 articles included demand for all sums dating back to July 2015. I therein also specified that I was willing to wait only up to the 25th February, 2016 before seeking means to get relief.

"Owed wages and accommodation were just 2 of these eleven articles.

"My letter was sent by email and by registered courier, both went unacknowledged nor honoured.

"This type of silence had become the new trend and my said demand letter was ignored just as my other e mails in the past weeks seeking support to prepare for the Egypt game.

"Our national team was at the point requiring that all energies and efforts should be directed at the oncoming qualifiers against Egypt and not at my employers initiating distractions for myself, the coaching crew and the players.

"Typical of these distractions, and without notice to me and in breach of our working agreement, the NFF rather chose the path of holding sessions on dismissing my assistant TIJANI BABANGIDA. They never gave reason(s) for the sack of Babangida.

"I had thought, hoped and counted on the NFF giving the magnitude of the Egypt game to have directed robust and committed efforts towards the said game, for example initiating its technical committee in procuring technical details that we had requested for since July 2015 on Egypt.

"Again some luxuries could have been shelved by the NFF to accommodate the outstanding bonuses for the players of the earlier qualifiers as the owed bonuses had become an issue with the players.

"As I have often been treated, along with my coaching crew and players it is pertinent to note that days after my resignation and contrary to The NFF official press release and numerous interviews and misrepresentations and outright falsehood, my bank has confirmed that no payments whatsoever as alleged by the NFF has been made to me. (as at as this afternoon of the 29thof February 2016).

"I dare say that the NFF I know would have made public, evidence of the said payment. I leave to the imagination of the public what conducts of this nature would do to our players just before vital games as often was the case.

"It is not in doubt neither did the NFF deny that my hallmark was my insistence on true professionalism, merit and an unflinching patriotic zeal to see the Nigerian national team to a higher level and my tenure brought progress to our dear national team.

"It is obvious that the NFF is at a loss as regards what to say, as they have never had a Coach ask them to keep their job as they often frustrate and use people (coaches) for scapegoats for their own short comings.

"My grandfather thought us to not seek to be loved by everyone(as it was not only impossible but a sign of weakness) but seek to be respected by most for honesty, hard work and a strong work ethic.

"As stated in my resignation indicating my recourse to the termination clause as contained in our working agreement. I resigned due to numerous Contractual violations, lack of Support, Unpaid wages, Benefits to my players, Assistant Coaches and myself.

Reacting to Oliseh's statement, NFF’s head of communication department, Ademola Olajire said the organisation paid on February 23 to the coach through a Sterling Bank account and added that the NFF is not moved by his threats as they have proof of payments.

“The NFF is not bothered by such threats. He can go to court. Oliseh is not the only one who has lawyers. The NFF has a legal department and it is ready.” Olajire said.

In order to clear a lot of falsehood that has been making the rounds in sections of the media following the resignation of Coach Sunday Oliseh, the Nigeria Football Federation has decided to make a statement regarding events relating to the employment and resignation of the Super Eagles Coach.

First of all, the NFF would like to state that contrary to what few members of the media would have Nigerians believe, the appointment of Mr. Sunday Oliseh as Head Coach of the Super Eagles was thoroughly thought-through; it went through a meeting between himself and the Technical Committee and was ultimately approved by the entire Executive Committee of the NFF.

The NFF had the best of intentions in hiring Mr. Sunday Oliseh, and despite the misgivings about his temperament (he himself alluded to this at his unveiling) he was seen as a bright young Coach able to take the Super Eagles to new heights. This view was premised on his resume, (having played in various countries around the world), his undoubted football knowledge and his currency of ideas (being a respected former Super Eagles Captain and a member of the FIFA Technical Study Group).

The fact that from Mr. Oliseh’s perspective, the relationship had gone so awry to the extent that he resigned his appointment is unfortunate because despite the temporary financial difficulties which crept into the relationship in the last 4 (four) months or thereabouts, the NFF Executive Board with its penchant for long term planning took a long term view of his appointment and remains confident that with a little more patience on the part of the Coach, things would have turned around for the better in the long run.

The NFF seizes the opportunity to apologise to Nigerians for the situation that we, through no fault of ours, find ourselves, but assures the teeming Super Eagles supporters that we shall patriotically remain committed to the success of the team. This is already evidenced by the swiftness with which we have reconstituted the coaching crew and received the assurances of the patriotism of the Super Eagles players who have vowed to fight for the Nigerian flag and spirit, and ensure that not only do we qualify for the African Nations Cup but also that our long term goals are not derailed.

The NFF gives the foregoing assurances despite the circumstance which has arisen with the untimely resignation of Coach Sunday Oliseh and despite the fact that the decision was taken unilaterally without discussion with NFF or any of its officials or board members, without giving the requisite 1 (one) months notice as stipulated in his contract immediately after he was paid his arrears of salary and housing allowance after his request to travel across Europe to visit potential call ups for the matches against Egypt was approved by the President of the NFF and; despite the fact that we have crucial qualifying matches to play next month

With regard to the various allegations made against the NFF by Mr. Sunday Oliseh in his letter of resignation and in the media, the NFF as a responsible organisation feels the need to this once respond to those allegations as follows, and thereafter continue with the job at hand without any further distractions:

Mr. Sunday Oliseh in his letter of resignation and in various reports has talked about not being respected, and not getting the support of the NFF. The NFF categorically denies these allegations and notes that from the time of his employment the NFF had always shown him respect which, unfortunately, not always reciprocated.

In order to encourage him, to exhibit an intention to put the issue of financial disagreements with coaches behind the Federation and to help the new Coach quickly settle down, the NFF proceeded to pay him three months’ salary in advance – something that had never happened previously in Nigeria football.

The NFF introduced him to our principal partners/sponsors in order to show that the Federation had total regard for and was fully supporting its coach. The President thereafter reiterated the vision of the NFF board and its mandate to the new coach to build a new and vibrant team that the Government and people of this country would be proud of. The NFF has since then allowed him to carry on his duties without interference. The NFF also purchased for Mr. Oliseh a brand new car to ease his movement locally whenever he was in Nigeria.

With regard to the allegation that he was not supported, it is pertinent to note that Mr. Oliseh himself had on numerous occasions expressed gratitude for the support he had received from the NFF and in particular from the NFF President and Vice Presidents. The NFF makes bold to say that he has been supported throughout his short tenure as the Super Eagles coach. Not only have his requests and choice of training camps been accepted, his choice of players have never been interfered with, his choice of venues have all but once been accepted and even where not accepted, an explanation was promptly given which was duly appreciated and accepted by the coach.

Only a few minutes before sending an email intimating the NFF of his resignation, Mr. Oliseh had written a mail to the NFF President about his trip across Europe to see players, which the NFF President had approved the day before.

For the competitive matches against Tanzania, Burkina Faso and Swaziland that the Super Eagles played away from home under Coach Oliseh, the NFF despite its financial constraints flew the team by chartered aircraft at the request of the coach.

It is pertinent to note also that, despite its financial constraints, the NFF acceded to Coach Oliseh’s insistence on camping the CHAN team in South Africa. His show of appreciation was to go on air to talk about spending his money to buy food for the team in South Africa. The truth is that the team stayed at a world -class facility where buffet feeding had been arranged. Coach Oliseh opted to buy Nigerian food for the players on two (2) occasions, without alerting the NFF or the hotel management. Food meant for the team on those two occasions went to waste.

In support of Coach Oliseh and in a bid to give him some confidence regarding the issue of finance, the NFF top echelon traveled to Rwanda at their own expense along with the Minister of Youth and Sports, in order that the coach and the team would have the opportunity of hearing first-hand from the Minister the challenges the NFF was facing with regards to funds. The Minister told the team clearly that the financial problems were not the fault of the NFF and promised to do his utmost to resolve it forthwith.

After the CHAN championships in Rwanda, the Technical Committee requested for the usual technical report of the Championship but Coach Oliseh wrote a terse email back to the secretary of that committee stating that he did not report to them.

Even though by the terms of his contract he was obliged to return to Nigeria at least 2 weeks to any Super Eagles match and is obliged to watch our domestic league matches from time to time, one can count how many local league matches he has watched and one can point out that he did not return to Nigeria before he went to the CHAN championship on the grounds that he was ill. Yet, he went to South Africa and Rwanda but did not return with the team to Nigeria

The NFF has accommodated these only in support of the ultimate success of the coach and the team.  On resumption, Coach Oliseh wanted to sack the entire backroom staff of the Super Eagles including the media officer saying that he could not work with them. A potentially messy situation was aborted by the firm position of the General Secretary and the President on the matter. The coach virtually tore the team apart with his impulsive style of man management, for example if not for the way the NFF President and Vice Presidents handled the matter, his disagreement with erstwhile captain Vincent Enyeama would have seen all the senior players quit the Super Eagles.

Contrary to the terms of his contract, Coach Oliseh went on air several times to talk about the NFF’s finances and in a derogatory manner. He went on air to insult Nigerians in what is now known as his ‘YouTube rant’ wherein he made serious allegations against the Nigeria media, which he has failed to substantiate. In it, he also noted that he didn’t want the job of the Super Eagles Chief Coach but was prevailed upon to accept it.

From the foregoing, it is clear that without claiming to be perfect and working under considerable financial difficulties, not only did the NFF support Mr. Sunday Oliseh in his capacity as Chief Coach of Super Eagles, it actually showed lots of restraint in the face of aggravated impulsive behaviour by the coach bordering in some cases on insubordination.

In closing this Statement there are a few things we must point out:

We find it strange though that, after complaints of non -payment, Mr.Oliseh waited to receive monies owed him before resigning. Two days before his resignation, he had passionately appealed that we unite as one force to fight the battle on the football field with the Egyptian national team. We had no idea he was selling a dummy.

For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Sunday Oliseh RESIGNED and was not SACKED. We bear no grudges against the coach and wish him well in his future endeavours.

We have heard strange talk of “instability in NFF.” How can there be instability in NFF simply because an employee chose to resign? The Executive Board of the NFF has resolved to accept his resignation and has responsibly gone ahead to accept the recommendation of the Technical Committee in replacing him temporarily with competent coaches.

We have now moved swiftly beyond the issue of the resignation of Coach Oliseh and like responsible business -minded administrators we are now thinking about the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the immediate business being the hosting of the Egyptian national team in Kaduna and playing them in Egypt towards the end of next month.

We thank the teeming patriotic supporters of the Super Eagles, seek your forgiveness if we have done any wrong, ask for your understanding of the very difficult financial situation under which we are working and above all request your continued support and prayers.

Former Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh's ex assistant, Tijani Babangida has risen to the defence of the erstwhile coach who was came under firw for quitting his role as national team handler just 8 months after being in charge. Tijani who was sacked by the NFF about a week ago revealed that Oliseh stepped down after he found out that NFF was secretly planning to replace him. .

“We saw this coming. Nothing is hidden. Oliseh was reliably informed that NFF went to talk to Herve Renard to take over the job as Super Eagles coach. This is one of the things that violated the contract he signed when he became coach. He believes his employers are not supporting him to succeed; rather, they are planning for him to fail. Especially, with the crucial game coming up in a month’s time against Egypt for the AFCON qualifier. He feels if he is the problem, why will he be a stumbling block? Hence, his resignation.
"He resigned so that NFF can do what they want to do. With match bonuses owed, salaries not paid, camping allowances too. The house NFF promised him has not even been secured for him. So, where will he stay when he comes to Abuja? Hotel?'' ''So, many violations of his contract. No one can work like that. NFF cannot pay Oliseh N5million but they went promising Renard $100,000. This is sad. Why won’t he not resign?” He said.

NFF unveiling Sunday Oliseh as Nigeria's Super Eagle's Coach on July 15, 2015. The centre can no longer hold

Spokesperson of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ademola Olajire has described the resignation of the Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh as  ‘good riddance to bad rubbish’.
Speaking in an interview with the Nigeria Television Authority in Abuja, Olajire said "He is not the kind of person we though he was. He went on YouTube to abuse Nigerians. The Minister pleaded with the federation to allow him to remain in place for our next two matches. As you can see, he did not even wait for those matches.”
He also stated that contrary to reports that he tendered a resignation letter  to the governing body, he said the NFF learnt about the latest development in the media.
On NFF's next line of action,  Olajire added that “I cannot tell you what exactly they will do, but I can tell you that we will empanel a new set of technical hands for the team. And whatever Oliseh has mishandled in his few months in charge, they will have to right.”

Details of his resignation letter below

 Dear General Secretary of NFF,

Object: Letter of Resignation.

Due to incessant Violations of our signed agreement (Contract) I am hereby informing you of my decision to terminate our working collaboration signed in July 2015.

The most important objective is for the Super Eagles Of Nigeria to qualify to the next AFCON and the World Cup 2018.

Since so little help is being rendered me in getting the players to give their best and very vital conditions and advantages to the team play are also being sacrificed coupled with non redress of the aforementioned despite my several e mails and others, seeking your aid to effectively carry out my duties were ignored.

These unconducive working conditions that my coaching crew and myself have to live with, your contractual violations and the interest of the nation necessitates that I tender my resignation and recourse to the termination of our working agreement. Many thanks for the opportunity to serve my fatherland.

Photo published for Oliseh at war with NFF over Babangida's sack - DailyPost Nigeria

According to sources, Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh is reportedly in another altercation with the NFF over the latter's decision to sack Tijani Babangida yesterday. The ex international's appointment as Technical Assistant to the Super Eagles was terminated yesterday following a recommendation by the technical and development committee.

“The immediate disengagement of Mr. Tijjani Babangida as Personal Assistant to Super Eagles’ Coach, Sunday Oliseh, as recommended by the technical and development committee, was unanimously approved and General Secretary was therefore mandated to follow the due process in effecting his disengagement.” the NFF communiqué read in part.

Oliseh reportedly condemned the decision claiming Babangida’s contract is tied to his, and Babangida can only be fired if he, Sunday Oliseh is sacked.

Members of the NFF Technical Committee; made up of Christian Chukwu, Paul Bassey, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju and Garba Lawal have tendered their resignation following the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick's poor handling of Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh's embarrassing rant issue.

"The Committee recommended for his outright dismissal after they agreed that he had violated his contract”, a source disclosed.

According to reports, they all had suggested that the ex Nigeria international be fired for breaching some contractual terms but the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung pleaded with his employers to give him a second chance.

“It is true that they are not keen to work again but I am prevailing on them to think twice because of their love and passion for the game and patriotism for the country. They cannot be treated with levity. They are heavyweights on their own and they are not paid a dime for their services.” Chairman of the Technical Committee Barrister Chris Green said.

A member of the committee also chipped in. “If they fail to take punitive action on him, he’ll mess them up. The problem is with Amaju because he wants to please everybody. They gave him the job on sentiment and that is the result. As for me, I can’t stay to watch him insult the Technical Committee. We all played for this country and deserve respect”, he stated.

According to BBC, Super Eagles handler, Sunday Oliseh will pay for his infamous 8-minute youtube outburst over the weekend. The ex international had slammed and labelled his critics insane in a video posted on his website for calling for his sack after the home based Eagles' lacklustre outing at the Rwanda 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN blaming him for Nigeria's CHAN 2016 exit.

The 41 year-old later apologised and blamed his rant on 'editing error".
"How dare I insult 170 million people who I love and have shown me so much love? Please forgive the error of editing! God bless you all’
“ Please when I spoke of critics, I did not mean the general public of Nigeria! I would never dare refer to my beloved country men as insane!’” He tweeted.

Nigeria's sports minister Solomon Dalung and NFF boss Amaju Pinnick reportedly held a meeting in Abuja on the issue and concluded that he should be fined US$30,000.

Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh as well as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick have apologised to Nigerians over the Super Eagles' exit from the African Nations Championship.

Nigeria lost  1-0 to Guinea in yesterday’s last group C match and subsequently crashed out of the tournament. They garnered four points from their two previous matches and only needed a draw against Guinea to advance to the quarter-final.

“We apologise to Nigerians for this loss, we never planned to exit the tournament this early. The boys gave their best,” Oliseh said after the game.

Pinnick added, “We apologise to Nigerians for the poor outing of the Super Eagles in Rwanda, but we toe the line of CAF which states that CHAN is a developmental and preparatory competition. Of course, as Nigerians, we love to win always, and we feel bad when we don’t.

“I want us to take the positives from this tournament. A player like Chisom Chikatara broke onto the global platform and players like Usman Mohammed,  Chima Akas, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Austin Oboroakpo and Ifeanyi Mathew confirmed their class.

“For me, it is disappointing that we did not progress. But the NFF will now focus on the 2017 AFCON qualifiers, and start preparations early for the remaining rounds."

With Sunday Oliseh in charge, Nigeria may not qualify for the 2018 World Cup, ex Nigeria  head coach Clemens Westerhof has claimed. The Dutch manager who stated in July this year that the ex Super Eagles player was a wrong replacement for Stephen Keshi told journalists  that Nigeria’s recent victory against Swaziland does not call for celebration.
“Congratulations, you beat Swaziland 2-0 in the return leg match of the preliminary round of the qualifiers. But does that really call for celebration? Yes, there are no minnows in football but who are Swaziland to hold the Super Eagles to a goalless draw (in Swaziland).
“The Super Eagles won 2-0  but is it not a game the Super Eagles should be winning 6-0 7-0 under normal circumstances? What type of football do they play in Swaziland?
“Swaziland is not the first match Super Eagles have played under Oliseh. There has not been any difference between their first game under him and the game with Swaziland.
“I’m sorry, with Oliseh, the Super Eagles may not go to the World Cup in Russia,” The 75 year-old who coached Nigeria for five years and won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia affirmed.

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has described the retirement of Emmanuel Emenike from the national team as a big shocker to him as well as the squad. Speaking recently to Brilla FM, the ex Nigeria international said he is yet to come to terms with the decision of the Al Ain forward whom he has included in the rebuilding plan. He added that all efforts to hear from the horse’s mouth has proved abortive.
“It was a big shocker for us and a big shocker for me personally… personally, I still don’t accept that he has retired because officially I have not heard anything from him and I don’t think the Federation have also heard from him; only what we know is what was posted on social media,” “I have made him (Emenike) part of our rebuilding process; in fact, he has had more playing time than any striker we have had, so I am very very surprised that he has decided to retire,”
“He has not reached me but I have called him twice, because immediately I heard this, first I thought it was all these lies on social media so I called him twice yesterday (Tuesday), I am expecting a return call from him, it is when I hear from him that I would fully accept that he is retiring.”

“He is a man. If a man chooses to retire, it should be his decision; if you force him back it could be counterproductive…If truly he retires, then it is a shame because we have him pretty much in our rebuilding plan. Be that as it may, I have always said only one thing is irreplaceable and that is Nigeria itself; we are all replaceable and that is it.” He affirmed.

Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh has expressed delight over the team’s performance at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt today. Nassaraw United’s Bature Yaro and Warri Wolves’ Gbolahan Salami fired Nigeria to a 2-0 win against Burkina Faso in the first leg final fixture.

Speaking to supersport.com in a post-match interview, Oliseh lauded his men’s efforts but noted that it is not yet a convincing victory for the team.
“The home Eagles fared very well against their opponents, Les Etalons of Burkina Faso. This is our first match with the home-based Super Eagles and I think it came off quite well. However, I think we have not won anything yet going into the second leg fixture in Ouagadougou, if we could score two goals here nothing stops the Burkinabes scoring same number of goals in the reverse fixture.

“So we will prepare harder with more organised mind to win well and secure the CHAN ticket right there in Ouagadougou for Nigerians. He added that “The Burkinabes were somehow flawless and combustive, I think they gave my charges a strong run for their money. It will be an entertaining and interesting reverse fixture right there in Ouagadougou. ”

The winner of the second round will automatically qualify for the final CHAN tournament in Rwanda in 2016.
