Award-winning international act, 2face idibia has done something really commendable. The Benue indigene recently created the '2face Peace Awards'; an initiative aimed at celebrating young individuals involved in diverse peace projects in their communities.
Categories of the award include;
1. Women-led Peace Building
2. Youth Peace Building
3. Peace Building in the environment
4. Projects on urban violence and community peace building
5. The use of technology or Social Media for peace building
6. Mediation directed at reducing violence against women and girls.
Winners will be presented N1million cash, mentored by 2face and afforded the opportunity to attend key global peace summits and exchange programmes in 2014.
Speaking on the people eligible for the award and his rationale, 2face stated, "These young people are mostly unnoticed but you will find them working hard in various places, educating people and helping to manage conflicts and promoting peace.
He continued, "They have become community leaders in peace building, reconciliation and post -conflict reconstruction, thereby establishing themselves as the next generation of leaders. As we march towards Nigeria's centenary celebrations in 2014, more than anything else, we want to celebrate them through the '2face Peace Awards".
Judges would assess candidates based on impact of their projects, innovativeness and sustainability overtime. Winners will be announced on September 21 during the UN Peace Day event.
