The Nairobi City Water and Sewage Company has partnered with a Danish water engineering company Grundfos ‎to make clean water available to Kenyans via water dispensing machines.

Water starts flowing after buyers insert a smart card into the machine. After topping their cards at a kiosk or through the mobile phone, just like the ATM‎s, they type in how much water they want to buy and voila! water starts flowing into their containers.

The Nairobi City Water and Seweage company charges half a
Kenya shilling (half a US cent) for 20 litres of water as against 50 Kenya shillings for the same litres of water charged by traditional vendors. These machines will be made available in 4 different locations in the country.
