Barcelona Vice-President, Jordi Mestre has expressed his disappointment at UEFA for snubbing two of the club’s key players, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the 2016 European Player of the Year award list. The duo who played key roles in the Blaugrana’s La Liga an Copa del Rey victories last season were placed fourth and fifth in the poll. Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann emerged the top three nominees.
Mestre in an interview on TV3 described the omission as scandalous: “It doesn’t seem the right decision to me at all. I don’t know what criteria UEFA applied, with all respect to the chosen winners, but I disagree [with the choices]. That our players aren’t there, such as Suarez or Messi, is scandalous. The club are very disappointed and angry.” He said.

Fans and sports pundits have been gushing over Gareth Bale's phenomenal performance tonight. The striker's double inspired the Real Madrid's come back from 2-0 down as the Blancos defeated Rayo Vallecano to go on top La Liga (temporarily cos Barcelona and Atletico won their games and are now back at their positions). The Welsh footballer wflourished in Ronaldo's absence has now scored 18 goals in 21 La Liga matches this season.


Luis Suarez keeps proving to the footballing world that he's no fluke. The Uruguayan bagged another hat trick tonight as Barca thrashed Sporting 6-0 to stay on top of La Liga log. The ex Liverpool forward became the first player ever to score 4 goals in two straight games in La Liga history.  He has now cruised past Cristiano Ronaldo on La Liga topscorers chart.

To Barcelona fans reading this, I hope you'll take a deep breath and relax. It isn't what you are thinking.lol.
Uruguayan player, Luis Suarez reportedly  arrived at Barcelona Airport yesterday and realized he had left his passport at home. But for someone's kind gesture, the Barcelona striker would have missed today's Champions League game featuring the Catalans and the gunners. The person cao me back with the passport on time and he was able to make the trip to London.

Awww, to think that we were celebrating him turning a new leaf in Spain. Barcelona star, Luis Suarez may find himself in a little trouble following his bust-up with Espanyol players after a 4-1 Copa del Rey victory at the Nou Camp last night.

The visitors received 8 yellow cards, 2 red cards in the match. One of the players, Pape Diop was dismissed for insulting Suarez's mum. Apparently still angry about the incident, after the game, the Uruguayan reportedly waited for their opponents at the tunnel and shouted. "I'm waiting for you, come here, you're a waste of space".

Below is a post-match report by referee report by Martinez Munuera.

“At the end of the game, once in the tunnel, Barça’s No.9, Suarez, Luis, while the Espanyol players were coming up the stairs, waited for them and shouted at them on various occasions. He said: ‘I’m waiting for you, come here! You’re a waste of space. It provoked a confrontation between players of both clubs and the present security guards had to get involved, as did coaches of both teams.”

An opener from Lionel Messi and a brace from Luis Suarez was enough to seal Barcelona's Club World Cup title. The Spanish giants defeated River Plate 3-0 today at Yokohama to claim their 3rd global crown.

Ex Liverpool star, Luis Suarez who has been nothing short of exceptional for the team, scoring four braces in all competitions,  this season was awarded the Golden Ball - the best player of the tournament.

He also broke another record today. His two goals took Barcelona's goal total for the calendar year to 176 as against 175 recoded in 2012.


 "The most important thing was to take the trophy, that was the only objective we had" The Uruguayan said.

Luis Suarez is balling! 

 The Barcelona player's hat-trick in Barcelona's 3-0 semifinal win over Guangzhou at the Club World Cup today did not only ensure that Catalans are in the Club World Cup final (against Argentine giant River Plate) the Uruguayan also went down into the annals of history as the first player to score a hat-trick in the history of the FIFA World Club. He was awarded Man Of The Match.

 He has now scored 19 goals in his last 17 games for Barcelona.

Unlike his spell in England which was laced with controversies, Luis Suarez has had a change of behavior since he switched from to La Liga and that hasn’t gone unnoticed. He has been making headlines in the past several months for some amazing reasons; goals, feats, friendship/partnership with his (arguably) best teammates, Messi and Neymar and many more.

Speaking about his change of behavior, Suarez told Ovacion Digital:

"It happened to me at Liverpool, where the defeats hurt me a lot, and at Ajax, where I wore the armband and felt responsible when we didn't win the title. Also with the national team. It's something that I criticise about myself,"

"Now at Barcelona it is different. I am playing with the best in the world, who makes things very easy. That the team is going well calms me a lot. Now, if they want to provoke me, they will not be able to."

The trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo have been announced as the final candidates for the 2014-15 Uefa Best Player in Europe award. European football's governing body announced the 10man longlist for the individual award in July, and UEFA confirmed on Wednesday that Messi, Suarez and Ronaldo were selected for the three-man shortlist.

Ronaldo, who picked up the trophy last year, earns another nomination after a season in which he scored 61 goals in 54 appearances and claimed the Uefa Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Messi and Suarez, meanwhile, formed a fearsome attacking partnership with Neymar that helped inspire Barcelona to the treble in Luis Enrique's first season in charge.


Chelsea star Eden Hazard finished sixth after inspiring Jose Mourinho's side to the Premier League title last term, winning the PFA Player of the year award in the process.

Past winners include Messi (2011), Andres Iniesta (2012), Franck Ribery (2013) and Ronaldo (2014).
Despite finishing third in the 2015 Ballon d'Or, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer only managed to secure 12th spot in the UEFA longlist voting.

Meanwhile, Real's most expensive ever signing Gareth Bale finished joint-19th with Lyon's Andre-Pierre Gignac after a frustrating campaign at the Bernabeu.

UEFA also announced the Best Women's Player of 2014-15 shortlist, with France midfielder Amandine Henry up against German duo Dzsenifer Marozsan and Celia Sasic.

Barcelona's attacking trio, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar ‎broke the 100-goal barrier yesterday after walloping Getafe 6-0.

Tagged in some circles as the deadliest attack in the world, they've scored an incredible 102 goals in all competitions for the Blaugrana this season.

They have now surpassed  the 100 goals scored by Messi, Samuel
Eto'o and Thierry Henry in the 2008/2009  season.

Former Liverpool forward, Luis Suarez has cited unjust treatment by the English press as the main reason he left Anfield last summer.

The Uruguayan was derided by the media for one major reason; his infamous biting incidents with Patrice Evra and Branislav Ivanovic. And one would not forget his episode with Italy's Giorgio Chielleni at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.


He told beIN Sports, "They talk too much and they didn't leave me in peace and I left because I was tired of them, but they continue looking for something, I don't know if the English press have a campaign against me but it looks like they miss me.

The Barcelona striker continued, "They criticised me a lot, looking for things that weren't there and calling attention to them. They published images of me [allegedly biting Demichelis] in the morning and when they saw that it was false, the images suddenly disappeared."

The star studded charity game which comes up on March 29 has been organized to celebrate the departure of captain Steven Gerrard who quits the club at the end of the season. Proceeds from the match will go to charities.

Stories/footages of Uruguayan forward, Luis Suarez allegedly  trying to bite Demichelis during the UCL game between Barcelona and Man City two days ago2-1 have surfaced online.

‎Despite this new development, neither Demichelis nor the club are interested in pressing charges. Infact, no accusations have been officially made from the Etihad quarters.

Recall that Suarez who stole the show and provided two of the 3 goals scored during the match has been suspended on three occasions for biting opponents.

The Barcelona striker while vehemently denying the claims slammed the British press of blowing the matter out of proportion.

 'He Demichelis put his hand on my throat. I do not‎ understand why the English media want to do this. They want to make trouble - a mountain out of a molehill.' They must be hurt after what I did to them in the World Cup but they forget that I played in England and they should show me some respect.' He told ‎Uruguayan radio station Sport890‎.

It has also been launched to coincide with the launch of four new adidas boots, including a brand new F50.

For failing to score ‎in seven league games after making his £75m move to Barcelona, former Liverpool player, Luis Suarez has been described as 'toothless' by spanish newspaper, Marca. Well, we all know where the 'toothless' idea came from.

The Uruguayan who has scored twice for for the Blaugrana at the UEFA Champions League is still struggling to find the net in La Liga.

Here's what Marca wrote.


"Having won the Golden Shoe for his exploits in front of goal last term, Suarez seems to have been unsettled by the ban that saw him start this season later than his new team-mates.

"The stats are even more surprising when compared to historical data: over the last 50 years, only three other forwards signed by Barcelona have had the same difficulty as Suarez in breaking their league duck.

"Those three are Christophe Dugarry, Luis García and Maxi Lopez, who all spent indifferent spells with the 'Blaugranas'.

"This stat places Suarez alongside some of the worst 'Cules' performers in recent times, and increases the doubts and speculation about whether or not his signing was good value for money for the Catalan club."‎

Remember Luis Suarez's infamous 4-month ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup? The Barcelona/Uruguay forward in a recent interview with Span's Radio Catalunya revealed the lies he told his daughter, who asked why he wasn't playing after he was banned.

"When my daughter asked me why I was not playing, it hurt me very much. I had to face it. At first I said it was because of the knee. But people told me to be sincere to her because she is becoming aware of everything.'

He later braced up to tell her the truth.

'I think it was during the match between Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano earlier in the season. She asked me why I was not playing and at the end I said: 'Dad had a red card because he did a mistake, because dad is human and he is not perfect.' She has since not asked anymore. I explained everything (to her) and she understood it.'

Uruguay forward, Luis Suarez has expressed his shock at being excluded from the 2014 Ballon d'Or nominees list.
And really the reason isn't far-fetched, his 4-month ban for the infamous World Cup bite is the chief, if not the only reason why his name didn't make FIFA's 23-men shortlist.

Here's his reaction to the news. "Everyone brings it to attention. As my Barca team-mate Gerard Pique said, they voted me as the best player in the most difficult league in the world, or one of the most difficult. I was also the highest goalscorer of all of the European leagues. It's strange that I'm not on the list, but I prefer to keep quiet before saying things because every time that I speak there could be a problem."
