NFF has announced Shuaibu Amodu  as Super Eagles' interim coach. The 58 year-old who managed the team 4 times would be assisted by Salisu Yusuf. Just some days ago, the former Technical Director urged the team to focus on the 2018 World Cup.

“If we continue like this, we will jeopardize the chances of Nigeria qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and I think many Nigerians will not like the national team to miss the World Cup after the Cup of Nations miss,” He said.

Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh as well as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick have apologised to Nigerians over the Super Eagles' exit from the African Nations Championship.

Nigeria lost  1-0 to Guinea in yesterday’s last group C match and subsequently crashed out of the tournament. They garnered four points from their two previous matches and only needed a draw against Guinea to advance to the quarter-final.

“We apologise to Nigerians for this loss, we never planned to exit the tournament this early. The boys gave their best,” Oliseh said after the game.

Pinnick added, “We apologise to Nigerians for the poor outing of the Super Eagles in Rwanda, but we toe the line of CAF which states that CHAN is a developmental and preparatory competition. Of course, as Nigerians, we love to win always, and we feel bad when we don’t.

“I want us to take the positives from this tournament. A player like Chisom Chikatara broke onto the global platform and players like Usman Mohammed,  Chima Akas, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Austin Oboroakpo and Ifeanyi Mathew confirmed their class.

“For me, it is disappointing that we did not progress. But the NFF will now focus on the 2017 AFCON qualifiers, and start preparations early for the remaining rounds."

The menace of kidnapping has reared its ugly head in Warri, Delta State with the abduction of Maimunat Ogude, wife of Fegor Ogude, Super Eagles and Amkar Perm of Russia midfielder.
Narrating the incident, the Nigerian footballer said,  “I wasn’t home yesterday. My wife, Maimunat Ogude, went out with my kids. Barely two hours that I left the house, my younger brother Ogaga called me to say that some armed men came to the house to take my wife away. I was told that they threw my kids out of the car and just took my wife in my car.
“Immediately I heard this, I had to go to the Police station to report this. And after making the report, I tried tracing them to see if by chance I could get the direction they went to. But I could not.
“All these happened between 7:30/8pm last night. Till this moment, I have not heard from them. I haven’t found my wife till this moment.
“But I got a call from the police that my car had been found in Ughelli. But no words yet from the kidnappers. I don’t know the state in which my wife is since last night.”.

There are reports that Seattle Sounders striker,  Obafemi Martins could make a comeback to the Oliseh-led national team for next month's 2018 preliminary World Cup qualifier against Djibouti or Swaziland.

The ex Inter Milan player has not featured in the team for two years now but has remained in a blistering form for his  Major League Soccer side scoring 14 goals in 19 appearances.

A top source hinted Complete Sports, "Obviously, Martins is an option we are considering in attack and he could make a return to the team but the coach has the final say on that. Emenike has not showed the handlers he could be relied on in the games he has played. The coach wants his forwards to be aggressive and press high up but that has not been the case."

Just when i thought somebody from somewhere will talk him into staying. Prolific shot-stopper, Vincent Enyeama is not mincing his words about quitting the Super Eagles team. Radio sports presenter, analyst and reporter, Oma Akatugba (pictured left in the second picture) who recently relocated to Belgium revealed on his instagram page that he, Mikel, Emenike and few other players tried persuading him to stay but the Lille goalie said he would not go back on his words.

The goalkeeper drove his Bentley car out of the Super Eagles camp in Belgium. Can imagine what is going on in the minds of other players, pain/sadness but life must go on. Oh! Oliseh. Let's hope a miracle will happen soon.

Meanwhile, he had breakfast with his team members before leaving ;((

Nigeria international, Obafemi Martins is reportedly eyeing a return to the Oliseh-led Super Eagles squad. The Seattle Sounders striker if given the chance is certain he will prove his‎ mettle and score more goals for the team.

"I hope I will soon get another chance to score goals for Nigeria again and I also believe that with time and a little more patience the Eagles will come back to winning ways under new coach Sunday Oliseh.  He has gotten all the experience we need in a coach, he has played the game before and I am really happy to see him in eagles again."

The former Levante forward who has scored 18 goals for in 39 appearances for Nigeria also denied calling time on his international career adding that he was misquoted by the media.‎

"I never announced my retirement, in any form or anyway, it was not official at all, I was unhappy to be treated as if am not a Nigerian footballer, I have represented Nigeria, at the Nations Cup, World Cup, and I still want to play more, it's a new eagles now, led by Oliseh, so why will I retire now, I am still young." Ex Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh and his foreign counterpart, Jean Francois Losciuto were unveiled few hours ago at the  National Stadium in Abuja as the new head coach of Nigeria's National Team, Super Eagles and assistant coach.

The former Ajax player who signed a 3-year contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was likened to veteran Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola.  "We have just signed the Pep Guardiola of Africa. And I believe he will succeed". NFF president Amaju Pinnick stated.

Oliseh however hopes to restore Nigeria's football glory days, "This is the biggest job in African Football. With every one's support, we can get the Super Eagles flying again."

By the way he and his assistant were paid 3months salary in advance. Real incentive I must say.

The Nigeria Football Federation are currently in talks with ex Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh to become the Head Coach of the men's national team. Recall that the managerial position became available few days back after ex coach, Stephen Keshi was fired for breaching some terms of his contract.

Confirming the news, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee said, "An offer has been made, and there is understanding, but we have to work out the final details of the agreement in a few days. Of course, the Executive Board has to give approval for his appointment based on the final terms to be agreed."

Oliseh will come with a Foreign Technical Assistant, whose job description will centre around development programmes, and who will work with Clubs' Youth Teams and certified Academies towards developing the game from the grassroots.

According to nff.com, Oliseh is expected to come up with a five –year developmental plan to fashion a unique playing and coaching philosophy for all the National Teams, and will for this purpose, interface regularly with coaches of those teams.

"We are also looking at how he will periodically organize clinics and seminars for coaches of Clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League, probably once in a month, so as to strengthen the playing philosophy across board. A robust youth development programme, elite player development strategy and performance programmes to drive higher standards, among other core sustainable development programmes, are also part of the proposal," Anyansi-Agwu added.‎

NFF President Amaju Pinnick said: "Sunday Oliseh has vast experience and immense knowledge of the game, and will certainly add value to what we are doing. Former Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo in a recent interview with Football Africa 365 stated that he will never pay coaches to feature in the national team like some players do.

I figured he made the revelation while speaking about his career and you know there's no way he won't make mention of the Super Eagles.

"Unlike others , I didn't offer gifts to the Nigeria coach to be selected. Unfortunately, it ' s still happening. I' m not going to be like some who owe their selection of gifts to the coach , "

The 30 year-old left - back ‎who parted ways with Turkish club, Bursaspor over unpaid wages is searching for a new club in France.

"The French league is my favourite; it's my adopted country and my city, Marseille . I would love to return, I spent my best moments , my family , my friends are there . I remain a strong supporter of OM . If Jean - Claude Dassier had been able to manage a football club, I would still be in Marseille. "

Seattle Sounders forward, Obafemi Martins' fantastic goal against San Jose Earthquakes on May 18 has been voted MLS Goal of the Year.

Obagoal's goal garnered over 50% of the total votes cast by online voters at MLSSoccer.com. Portland's Will Johnson and New York's Thierry Henry's goals came second and third respectively.‎

Meanwhile in other unrelated news, the former Levante striker who has been constantly shunned by the technical team for some time now has called time on his international career.

In an interview with Italian daily, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Martins who made 39 appearances for the Super Eagles and scored 18 goals hinted that that he's having problems with the Super Eagles set up and has not enjoyed good relationship with some of his team-mates.
‎

"No, I am done with my national team, I will not go there any more. I do not have good relationships with some companions. If they do not want me anymore, patience. I love my country, I have given so much. But there are problems and although I am summoned, I do not go." He stated.

Dear Nigerians and die-hard footie fans, do you agree with this statement? Ex goalkeeper and singer, Emmanuel Babayaro has maintained that no Nigerian coach is capable of handling the Super Eagles. He added that even the incumbent manager, Stephen Keshi who is highly sentimental isn't right for the job.

"I don't think Keshi is the man for the job. I never thought any Nigerian coach is the right person for the Eagles. And note this, it has nothing to do with their ability as coaches. As coaches they may be terrific, but I have always maintained, an average Nigerian myself inclusive, we are very sentimental people and football and sentiments they don't go together.

He continued, "That is why we have this situation where Keshi never invites the best hands, for one sentimental reason or the other. On a good day, somebody else without sentiments would have invited every other person. We have to bring the players. They will create competition which at the end of the day makes every other player better."

According to reports, Stephen Keshi may not return as Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria. The reason however isn't far-fetched, the NFF is yet to agree with his new contract and salary demands.

The former Super Eagles player whose contract ended on June 30 told BBC Sport, "Talks over a new contract shouldn't drag on. I can't wait any more – the NFF is not serious. I have moved on. I can only wish the country well for the future. I've had about seven countries approach me in the last two months but I kept them all away."

"There's a game in two weeks [Nations Cup qualifier against Congo] but no-one is thinking about it and at the same time they expect you to win. I understand the ongoing crisis facing the federation but the national team should not suffer from such at this crucial stage. Sadly, I also think attention is focused more on the upcoming NFF elections and the national team is simply not a priority."

He also talked about offers from other countries.

"I've had about seven countries approach me in the last two months but I kept them all away. I love my country and I am aware of the dream our fans had of me taking this team to the next level. While acknowledging the efforts of some people involved in the negotiation, I think others probably have other important things to do."

Mixed reactions have continued to trail Eagles 23-man list for the AFCON 2015 qualifiers. Honourable Sabo Babayaro, The father of Nigerian sport legends, Emmanuel and Celestine Babayaro believes that the exclusion of Manchester City youngster, Iheanacho was not appropriate adding that he could contribute immensely to the squad.

He told SL10, "I think it was wrong to leave Iheanacho out, for two reasons, first of all his performances during Man City tour of USA should have earned him a spot in the team. Secondly, it would have been a wise idea to include him in the Eagles rooster because when he turns 18, Man City will have a strong case in using the special talent rule to get him a work permit.

"They will argue that a 17-year-old in the senior national team of Africa's champion deserves to be termed special and of course integrate him now so he can get the 75% national team game required by foreigners to play in the Premier League.

"I think it was an oversight but it can still be corrected because in the past Kanu and co were stars at the Under-17 and they were integrated early into the Super Eagles.

If the report in Vanguard newspaper is anything to go by, then Super Eagles manager, Stephen Keshi will get a new mouth-watering deal. According to them, the Nigeria Football Federation will pay coach Stephen Keshi seven million Naira a month (over $44,000). This is coming few days after the 52 year-old expressed his interest to continue as head coach.

"We have had meetings with Keshi and the good news is that he is willing to continue as coach of the Super Eagles, He is only concerned that most of the fringe benefits in his contract were not provided and demands better treatment from the Federation. I think the first step was a success and we will build on it because the (2015 Africa Cup of Nations) qualifiers are not far away." A top official hinted.
