Spanish outfit, Real Madrid have for the third year running retained the top spot on Forbes' list of the 50 most valuable sports teams in the world. Barcelona ($3.16 b) and Manchester United ($3.10) were also included in the top five. The world's 50 most valuable teams are worth an average US$1.75 billion, up 31 per cent from 2014 according to Forbes.

Spanish giant, Real Madrid has for the third consecutive year topped Forbes list of 20 most ‎valuable football clubs in the world.

Valued at $3.26bn, the club boasts of revenue of $746m and this according to Forbes was enough to keep them top of the list.

Forbes took into account equity and net debt, operating income
and transfer net spend when calculating its league table‎.

The 20 most valuable football teams in the world are worth an average of $1.16bn, 11% more than last year and 84% higher than five years ago.‎ Barcelona is in second spot, valued at $3.2bn, while Manchester United is third on $3.1bn.

And for the first time since Forbes began ranking, two Spanish teams, Real Madrid and Barcelona, have occupied the top two spots.

For four consecutive years, Dangote has retained his position as the richest man in the African continent. Meanwhile, former Microsoft Chairman, Bill Gates has also overtaken Carlos Slim as the world's richest man.

After being displaced by singers, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez in the year 2011 and 2012, billionaire talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey is back to number one spot on Forbes' 2013 most powerful celebrities.

The 59 year-old who's topped the list four times since 1999 is being credited with $77 million (£50m) earnings between June 2012 and June 2013. Forbes writer, Dorothy Pomerantz asserts that she still weilds an enormous amount of power.

"She is taking this cable network and turning it around just through the sheer force of her will, her connections and her ability." She added


For the 2013 compilation, Forbes looked into celebrity's earnings on income from tours, books, contracts, endorsements, movies and residuals etc and how they appeared in the media using different polls.

The two and a half men star reportedly banked $24 million for his role in the popular sitcom which records 12.4 million viewers per episode.

Asides acting, 34 year-old Kutcher has investments in Silicon Valley, Skype, Spotify and Airbnb valued at $1 billion.'
