Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte is losing sleep over the club's issues.

The Blues were defeated in their last two games.; against Liverpool and Arsenal and the man at the helm has admitted the team are only good on paper and not on pitch where it really matters. And to keep his job, he's determined to find solutions to the lingering  problems.

“We must improve a lot of if we want to stay up at the top and not in the middle of the table. Conte said. “But my message is not important. The most important message is the one that arrives on the pitch. We must all understand this message, and find very soon the right solution to improve.
“I don’t sleep, sure. I don’t sleep. This is normal. After this game, this defeat, it’s normal for me not to sleep. Not only tonight, but for two nights. When I don’t sleep, I reflect. And it’s important to reflect.
On the recent London derby which ended 3-0 in favour of Arsenal, Conte added. “I got angry at half-time but I prefer to keep my words. There are rules in the dressing room. Sure I was angry but my players were also angry. We were not satisfied with our game, with our performance.
“I have to find the solution very, very soon because against Arsenal we played a very bad game.”
In other news, there are reports that the coach is planning a defensive clear-out following his side's defeat to the Gunners. Players expected to be affected by the phase out are Ivanovic and Cahill and probably many more

All hell was let loose today after Liverpool beat Arsenal 4-3 in a thrilling Premier League opening weekend encounter at Emirates Stadium.
Theo Walcott opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 31st minute shortly after missing a penalty. Philippe Coutinho equalised after firing home a stunning free - kick. Other names on the scoresheet were Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain  and Calum Chambers headed in.

The usually patient Gooner fans did not only pour invectives on the Frenchman but relaunched the #WengerOut campaign on social media at the drop of a hat.

Xhaka has signed a five-year contract worth £110,000-per-week after passing a medical with the Gunners

Arsenal have completed the signing of Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach. The 23 year-old who is the Gunners' third-most expensive signing joined the club for a reported £35m on a long-term contract. He scored six goals in 108 Bundesliga appearances and has won 41 international caps .

“I’m very proud to be joining Arsenal. I cannot wait to move to London, represent this special club and play in the Premier League.  I will give everything to help Arsenal win trophies and make the fans happy.” He said.

“Granit Xhaka is an exciting young player, already with good Champions League and Bundesliga experience. “We have been watching him for a long time now and he is a player who will add quality to our squad.” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger added.

Arsène Wenger at White Hart Lane

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger  insists the title race isn't over despite dropping points last weekend in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
“The Premier League is far from being over. Just to remind you, we have beaten Leicester twice so we have done our job against them. People have to look at other teams more, not just us on that front. We will not give up the Premier League, we will fight until the end.
"We had a performance [at Tottenham] where we took only one point and the three were possible. [But] we have shown the mental response that everyone wanted from us.
“When people question the spirit it doesn’t mean they are right. Our spirit was questioned after Swansea… we can only go on the pitch and do our job, no matter what people say.
"What people say should not influence us. They have to be influenced by our desire to win the game and by giving our best.”

Arsenal player, Alexis Sanchez reckons  Arsenal have the talent to win the Premier League, but lack the self-belief to claim the title. The Gunners title hopes diminished after their 2-1 loss to  Swansea City on Wednesday. They are now 6 points behind leaders, Leicester City

Speaking recently to DirecTV Sports, the former Barcelona star affirmed that Arsenal are lacking a certain hunger and confidence to clinch the title.

“I think we can win the Premier League with the players we have. That said, we lack a certain hunger. We need to step out onto the pitch as if we’re already 1-0 up.
“We lack self-belief, that we can actually be champions.
“I remember a game against Manchester United last year. The lads looked hungry for silverware as we took to the pitch. We crushed them in the first 20 minutes and went 2-0 up. We were hungry and brimming with confidence that day.”  He stated.

Lionel Messi scored his first ever goal against Petr Cech and sent Twitter into a meltdown. He ended a run of 10 hours and 11 mins without scoring against him.

Just about two months ago, the former Chelsea skipper had bragged about being able to deny Messi the chances of scoring against him during his spell at Chelsea. Well, the Argentine smashed that record tonight.

The Gunners contained the visitors at the first half of the game but ran out of steam at the 71st minute, when Messi brilliantly chipped in a pass from Neymar.  Messi ruined their night further and netted the second goal  at the 84th minute via a penalty, no thanks to a slide at the area by Flamini who replaced Francis Coquelin at the 82nd minute.

Barcelona are now 33 games UNBEATEN in all competitions since a 2-1 loss to Sevilla on 3 October. The Catalans will host the Gunners in the second leg of the game in Camp Nou in the coming weeks.

Arsenal Legend, Henry Thierry in his column for The Sun provided the Gunners useful tips on how to beat their visitors, Barcelona when they meet for their Champions League last 16 in London on Tuesday night. The Frenchman who also played for the Catalans believes Arsenal can repeat the feat of 2011 where they won the home leg 2-1. He wrote:

"They have to accept they will probably only have 30 per cent possession and must be so efficient when they do get the ball. The whole team must defend more as a unit and the wingers must tuck in and play more in their own half. You very rarely get the chance to play against Barcelona so you must be prepared to sacrifice parts of your attacking game, home and away.

"Arsenal must be brave on the ball. They need to stay compact, play on the counter and score every time they get in their penalty area. They can’t be exposed in the middle and must force Barcelona to run back 60 yards before they get the ball. If you allow them to stay in your half for wave after wave, it becomes almost impossible to defend."

Later today, Arsenal will take on Leicester City at the Emirates stadium in a game that would have a huge bearing on who will eventually win the League. Whilst it cannot be tagged the decider considering the number of games left to be played, the outcome of the game will give a clearer indication on where the title might end up at the end of the season.

Of the two sides, Arsenal is the team that would be desperate to avoid a defeat. A victory for Leicester City will see them open an eight-points gap between themselves and the North London club, thereby, potentially ending their title dream – again.

The word ‘again’ is used because it would be yet another season of disappointment and ‘what ifs’ for the fans of Arsenal. For many years now, they have endured similar heartbreaks but this year would definitely be bigger and much more painful for obvious reasons.

In a season that Chelsea is fighting for survival, Manchester United continues to increase their efforts towards not playing in Europe and Nigeria’s PHCN have been more consistent than Manchester City, Arsenal should be running away with the League. They (Arsenal) not only have the most experienced manager in the League but also, players who can make things happen.

The excruciating pain for not winning it will be compounded by the fact that Arsenal might NEVER have such an opportunity again. Next season will see Pep Guardiola, a proven winner, move to Manchester City, Jose Mourinho might join Manchester United, Chelsea will definitely bounce back stronger and Jurgen Klopp will have gathered enough experience to give others a fierce contest.

A defeat at the Emirates will definitely be fatal for Arsenal but even more fatal for the manager of the club, Arsene Wenger. As a matter of fact, it could be the final straw for the manager who has gone from being adored to being endured by a good number of fans over his philosophy and approach to managing for a decade.

Without a doubt, Arsene Wenger remains the club’s greatest manager given his remarkable achievements but since he last won the League in 2004, he has offered nothing but excuses.

To be fair on him, his excuses are valid. The club went through a financial transformation and that restricted his chance to compete at the very top as he had little money to spend on players unlike his opponents. But despite all of that, he managed to keep the side competitive with an admirable youth policy.

His problem, however, is that a lot of managers are beginning to make light his excuses with their achievements. The obvious example will, of course, have to be the manager he would be facing later today, Claudio Ranieri. He is on the verge of winning the English Premier League with a squad that is cheaper than Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

More so, what Jurgen Klopp did with Borrusia Dortmund is another great example. He not only broke the monopoly of Bayern Munich by winning the Bundesliga consecutively, he also took them to the final of the biggest competition in Europe, the UEFA Champions League. Under his watch, Borrusia Dortmund went from another club in Germany to a respected force in mainstream Europe without him necessarily throwing money about.

In the same vein Atletico Madrid is witnessing that under Diego Simeone. Two years ago, he won the La Liga right under the nose of European giants – Real Madrid and Barcelona. More so, he could have won the Champions League but for Sergio Ramos’ late header.

All of these are clear indications of two things. First off, the emphasis on spending is overrated. Financial worth is not the measure of quality (Please, recall that Mangala cost Manchester City a staggering £42Million) and with the right motivation, there is no limit to what a team can achieve.

Secondly, it indicates that regardless of how valid Wenger’s excuses may seem over the years, they still remain what they are – excuses. And if today, Leicester City manage to grind out a win and consequentially dent Arsenal’s title charge, those excuses will no longer be tolerated.

The Wenger Out Brigade recruit more members faster than how Eriteria gained new male entrants when the false news of Government compulsion to marry two wives made the rounds and they have shown flashes of what they are capable of doing. A defeat to Leicester will not only exponentially increase the members of the Brigade, it might also be the beginning of a revolt that would be hard to ignore.

Arsene Wenger will have no hiding place and it just might be the beginning of his end at Arsenal.

Being top of the league is one rare achievement for Arsenal , it should however come as no surprise if the feat is even celebrated at the Emirates. So, the Gunners finished the year with a well-deserved victory over Bournemouth yesterday and that was sort of an extra big deal for Mesut Ozil who took to his official instagram page to celebrate the achievement.
The German who scored one of the two goals in the game and gave an assist has  been in a top form this season,. He's just emerged the player with the most assists this season (16).

In the wake of their 4-0 loss  to Southampton yesterday, Arsenal fans have submitted a petition to the Football Association calling for referee Jonathan Moss to be banned from officiating their games.

The petition reads: "The problem is that Jonathan moss (referee) made many mistakes that cost Arsenal goals during the game against Southampton, there are no punishments given to referees for mistakes like these that cause long term problems and unfair advantages. We are calling for a punishment or ban from Arsenal games for Jonathan moss."

Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure has admitted that Arsenal deserved to beat his side at the Emirates on Monday night.

Two goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud put the Gunners two behind leaders, Leicester City. And despite the defeat, the Ivorian is confident his team is still much in the title race.

"It is a bad result. We lost but the team played very well and it's not easy to come to the Emirates and play like that.

"Full credit to the lads but Arsenal are a good team and it's not easy to come here and control the game.

"That is football and sometimes we have to accept we can lose close games like that. We are greatly disappointed but Arsenal played very well and deserved the win. We have a chance to try and fight back on Saturday. This league this year is going to be very tight." He told his club's official website.

Arsenal player, Mesut Ozil has gotten a rare appraisal from fellow teammate, Jack Wilshere who described his arrival at the Emirate two years ago as a massive lift for the club. He told the club's website that it was hard to believe that manager, Arsene Wenger had managed to sign the German.
" I watched Ozil for years. He started off young and went to a big club like Real Madrid. I think we knew what sort of player Mesut was. His history as a player and the clubs he has played for... to bring him in to play with us was massive,"
"I remember watching (the TV on) transfer deadline day and seeing that Arsenal were interested in Mesut Ozil, and you almost didn't believe it. When he arrived, the players were buzzing and the fans were buzzing and I think that gave us all a massive lift.
"I remember watching him a few times and thinking that this player really understands football. You can tell he really understands football and to play alongside him is something special."

Arsenal have won their appeal against the 3-match suspension of Arsenal defender, Gabriel following his clash with Chelsea's Diego Costa during their game with the Blues last Saturday. Recall that the Brazilian was issued a red card by referee Mike Dean shortly after and was banned alongside Diego Costa by the FA yesterday.

An FA statement read:

"Arsenal's claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Gabriel has been upheld following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

The player's three-match suspension has, therefore, been withdrawn with immediate effect.
Gabriel was dismissed for violent conduct during the game against Chelsea on Saturday [19 September 2015]. The player is currently subject to a separate FA charge of improper conduct in relation to Saturday's game and has until 6pm on Thursday [24 September 2015] to reply."

‎The centre-back will now be available for tomorrow's League Cup fixture against Tottenham, as well as upcoming league matches against Leicester City and Manchester United.‎ However, he still faces an FA charge of improper conduct, relating to his reaction when Dean sent him off. He has until Thursday to respond.

Jose Mourinho's post-match interviews are predictable. When his team loses, he heaps praise on his men, blames series of people plus the unthinkable for the loss. When he wins, he heaps more praises on the team and throws tantrums on opponents and stuffs. Typical of the Portuguese.

The Special One today was impressed with his team's performance after they won their  sixth game of the season against Arsenal at the Stamford Bridge.

'It was a very good performance, a deserved victory, I'm happy with the performance and points. We improved a lot in the last two matches, in many aspects.  Defensively the team was much better. The attacking players defended much better than before, they created a compact zone and reacted very well to the moments when they lost the ball. That gives great stability for the players behind.

'We were confident and comfortable with the ball. When you play against 10 men, many times teams play bad, but we played very well against 10 men, we gave them no chances and kept good balance behind the ball. The attacking players started moving much more. We deserved the victory.'

'Tomorrow I will watch the game again and go for stats. I will see how many times my attacking players lost the ball and recovered the ball. Lost the ball and pressed. Their work – Oscar, Diego, Eden andPedro – makes it easy to be a defender because you sit there and the attacking players do half of your job for you.'

On Wenger's claim that Costa should have been sent off, The ex Madrid boss added.

'I played against Arsenal many times and only once he didn't moan. That day we lost the game, we lost the cup (Community Shield). It wasn't good for us but we behaved in a fantastic way. No excuses, no crying, no moaning. I played my first derby in September 2000, Benfica against Sporting. I told my players before the game you need emotional control. I've played derbies in Portugal, Spain, Italy, England and you don't win derbies without emotional control, it's a basic thing. I think you should speak about Gabriel and his mistake.

'Diego Costa played like he has to play. That's why you have full stadiums and you sell the game around the world for millions, because the game has to be played like that. That's why tomorrow I will go to a game which is comparable in terms of passion and dedication, New Zealand against Argentina [in the Rugby World Cup], I love it. Diego was fantastic, Man of the Match for me.

'It was the same referee that made every decision and didn't give two clear penalties to us. Gabriel did something to Hazard which is allowed in rugby, not football. In the box it's a penalty. In the second half another player did the same onDiego Costa. In rugby it's fantastic, in football it's a penalty. He said before the game I have to cope with my defeat, tonight he has to cope with his defeat.
