Former PSG coach, Paul Le Guen has emerged the next Super Eagles manager, the Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed. Recall that the shortlist of three coaches unveiled last Friday included Le Guen, Salisu Yusuf and Tom Saintfiet.

52 year-old Le Guen has previously managed Rennes, Lyon, Rangers, Cameroon. His last managerial appointment was at Oman national team. The Frenchman would be officially unveiled by the NFF on July 18.

However, the position of assistant coach is still vacant. “As it is now the position of the deputy has been thrown open because Yusuf is still insisting that he would not work as an assistant to Le Guen. Those who worked on their entries picked the Frenchman and with the hope that Yusuf could learn a lot from him for the immediate future but he (Yusuf) appears to have some other ideas so the federation will now have to consider a new person altogether to replace Yusuf." An official revealed.

NFF has announced Shuaibu Amodu  as Super Eagles' interim coach. The 58 year-old who managed the team 4 times would be assisted by Salisu Yusuf. Just some days ago, the former Technical Director urged the team to focus on the 2018 World Cup.

“If we continue like this, we will jeopardize the chances of Nigeria qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and I think many Nigerians will not like the national team to miss the World Cup after the Cup of Nations miss,” He said.

The last is yet to be heard of the Keshi Vs NFF imbroglio as the Ex-coach of the Super Eagles have reportedly filed a lawsuit against the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for "wrongful dismissal and defamation".

Keshi was sacked by the NFF after findings revealed that he showed interest in assuming the vacant Ivory Coast coaching job by applying - a claim he and his agent have since debunked.
"Keshi's lawyers have written the NFF threatening to sue for wrongful dismissal and defamation of character," a source informed AfricanFootball.com

"But the truth of the matter is that he does not have a leg to stand on as far as this matter is concerned. "It's all laughable and he's just chasing shadows."
He has since been replaced by Sunday Oliseh.

Introducing the newly constituted Super Eagles coaching crew. These are the people who would steer the ship of the national team and hopefully would help restore Nigeria's football glory. From left to right; Assistant Coach, Jean Francois Losciuto‎, Yusuf, Sunday Oliseh and Agu.

Goodluck to them!

Ex Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh and his foreign counterpart, Jean Francois Losciuto were unveiled few hours ago at the  National Stadium in Abuja as the new head coach of Nigeria's National Team, Super Eagles and assistant coach.

The former Ajax player who signed a 3-year contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was likened to veteran Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola.  "We have just signed the Pep Guardiola of Africa. And I believe he will succeed". NFF president Amaju Pinnick stated.

Oliseh however hopes to restore Nigeria's football glory days, "This is the biggest job in African Football. With every one's support, we can get the Super Eagles flying again."

By the way he and his assistant were paid 3months salary in advance. Real incentive I must say.

Reactions have continued to trail the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to appoint ex Super Eagles player, Sunday Oliseh as the head coach of the men's national team.

Erstwhile technical director of the Nigeria Football Association, Kashimawo Laloko, has said that the former Borussia Dortmund and Ajax midfielder lacks the experience required to manage the the team.

"I don't think he has the necessary experience to be Super Eagles coach. He is educated and very organised as a player, but his success will depend on how organised he is as a coach. Managing a national team is very different from coaching a club.

Besides, being a good footballer and analyst does not automatically make you a fantastic coach. But one thing I can be sure of is that he will introduce a new structure in the team; Keshi never had any structure, and that was what affected the team last year. Oliseh might have the UEFA pro licence but it is required that he has a CAF licence, that is what we have on ground as the rule,"‎ he said.

Former Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Clemens Westerhof also shared the same opinion.

"Did you say Sunday Oliseh to be Super ‎Eagles coach? No, no, no, no! That cannot be, he can't be
Super Eagles coach. Oliseh cannot do it, no, he can't. If what you just said is correct, if Nigeria Federation is bringing Oliseh to handle Super Eagles,  then that is too bad because it is not right, it is not proper, he is not the right ‎man for the job.

He continued, "Before I took over Super Eagles in 1989, I was head coach of Feyenord of Amsterdam and we were champions after many years. I coached other top teams in the first division, Vitese, MVV and came back to Vitese again. I had the experience coaching top teams. Keshi was a top quality player in Belgium with Lokeren, Anderlecht, RC Strasburg in France, Sacramento Scorpions and all that. He coached several other top teams including Togo and Mali.

Where did Oliseh coach? What is his coaching experience? Do you want to start learning how to coach with the senior national team? Coaching amateur teams is not enough to get experience of handling top teams like Super Eagles. Players cannot respect him, you know, he cannot command their respect and influence as they loved and respected me, as they also respected and loved Keshi. What the Super Eagles need is a coach who the players will love to respect, who has positive influence on the players and I don't think ‎Oliseh has these qualities."‎ He concluded.

The Nigeria Football Federation finally got rid of Stephen Keshi after several months of unending drama, media wars and bad blood. The sack of keshi was inevitable. It was clear alot of power brokers in charge of administrating football in the country did not want him. Stephen Keshi banked too much on the links and goodwill that followed his AFCON 2013 victory. He became almost uncontrollable and was always at loggerheads with his 'bosses'.

Nigerians endured months of war of words in the media, resigning, re-appointing, sacking and rehiring -  all which culminated into bad results for the super Eagles. There was no way the Super Eagles would thrive under such atmosphere or condition given that there is a friction in the marriage of the two  major components that contributes to the success of the team.

Essentially, there are three components - the administrators, manager and players. A seamless or good marriage of the three will yield good results and similarly, a friction can only yield bad results.
The failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2015 AFCON despite entering the qualifiers as defending champions only affirms this.
More than anything, there is a need for our football to move on!, a need for a fresh air and from clear indications, it won't happen with Stephen Keshi as manager of the Super Eagles. Hence, his sacking and possible (almost sealed) hiring of Sunday Oliseh will provide the much needed fresh air.

Sunday Oliseh - great analytical mind, principled, assertive and hugely certified might be the unifying factor of the three components. The news of his appointment have been met with great reception and optimism. Nigerians seem to be gradually moving on from the whole Keshi imbroglio and are anticipating a bright future under one of the most cerebral players the Super Eagles ever had.
Though, there might be some reservations over his poor managerial experience given that his only stint was with a third tier Belgian side. There are, however, examples of players who switched from active playing to managing and recorded huge success.

Stephen Keshi was not a bad coach and in fact would go down in history as one of the best coaches Nigeria ever had given his immense achievements, however, the environment and atmosphere around him wasn't ideal anymore for progress. There was a need for a breath of fresh air - the kind that Sunday Oliseh symbolises.

The Nigeria Football Federation are currently in talks with ex Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh to become the Head Coach of the men's national team. Recall that the managerial position became available few days back after ex coach, Stephen Keshi was fired for breaching some terms of his contract.

Sunday Oliseh met with NFF President Amaju Pinnick in London on Tuesday and right now negotiations have reached advanced stage. Confirming the news, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee said, "An offer has been made, and there is understanding, but we have to work out the final details of the agreement in a few days. Of course, the Executive Board has to give approval for his appointment based on the final terms to be agreed."

Oliseh will come with a Foreign Technical Assistant, whose job description will centre around development programmes, and who will work with Clubs' Youth Teams and certified Academies towards developing the game from the grassroots.

According to nff.com, Oliseh is expected to come up with a five –year developmental plan to fashion a unique playing and coaching philosophy for all the National Teams, and will for this purpose, interface regularly with coaches of those teams.

"We are also looking at how he will periodically organize clinics and seminars for coaches of Clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League, probably once in a month, so as to strengthen the playing philosophy across board. A robust youth development programme, elite player development strategy and performance programmes to drive higher standards, among other core sustainable development programmes, are also part of the proposal," Anyansi-Agwu added.‎

NFF President Amaju Pinnick said: "Sunday Oliseh has vast experience and immense knowledge of the game, and will certainly add value to what we are doing. He has bought into our vision and objectives towards the development of Nigeria football. He will command the respect of the players and we trust he has the temperament to work harmoniously with the Technical and Development Committee, the Technical Directorate and the Technical Study Group.

"On our part at the NFF, we will give him all the support to succeed as we have been giving to all our coaches. Subject to the approval of the NFF Executive Committee, we will conclude negotiations by weekend and he will be unveiled next week."

The 40 year-old FIFA instructor won 63 caps for Nigeria between 1993 and 2002. He was part of the Nigeria squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 1994, and played in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup final competitions. He played in clubs like  Reggiana, FC Cologne, Ajax Amsterdam, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund etc. He holds a UEFA Pro License. Between 2008 and 2009, he coached Belgian club, Vervietois.

There are strong indications that ex-international, Sunday Oliseh might emerge as the next coach of the Super Eagles following the sack of Stephen Keshi. President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, reportedly had a meeting with him in London on Tuesday.

Oliseh was an integral part of the Eagles' squad that won the Africa cup of nations in 1994 and the Olympic gold in Atlanta'96. He holds a UEFA pro license and managed a Belgian third division club, Vervietois Fc between 2008-2009.

This has got to do with the Nigeria Vs Iran match which ended goalless draw few weeks ago. According to Africanfootball.com, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi is not really happy with the way some abusive Nigerian fans hurled insults at him and criticised his antics during the opening group game at the World Cup in Brazil.

"I am disappointed, totally disappointed by the personal attacks, but it's their thing, no wahala. It's a shame, just a shame that we keep doing the same thing and then they come back and they say they are sorry. Sorry for abusing my mum? Sorry for abusing my siblings? For what? That I am representing Nigeria?" He stated.

To be very candid, I understand Keshi's point and there's really no justification for the insults but really it was only natural for fans to react and express their opinion about the game. No one will give the team kudos when their performance is lacklustre.

Stephen Keshi
Stephen Keshi is serious about this and Eagles have to stick to it. Addressing Super Eagles on tuesday February 7, 2012, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Kesi has placed a ban on European trials by the players.
The former Eagles captain said the trial issue has been affecting the building of a strong national team as players stroll in and out of camp to embark on trials in Europe and other parts of the world.
He however advised players who have the intention of going for trials in foreign clubs in the next 60 days to leave the camp so he can't invite replacements.
"I'm distracted everytime players walk up to me and ask for permission to travel that has to stop now. Those who want to travel can come and I will pray for them, its no quarrel"
He stated further that he feels insulted each time players travel for trials and sometimes return without success, "If we train players here and they make the national team such players don't need trials in Europe to be engaged by top clubs".
Citing Ghanaian Legend, Abedi Pele who after unsuccessful trial attempts in france was trailed back to Ghana by another club who saw him play in a trial game, he said, "if you are good enough, clubs in Europe will come down here to sign you instead of you exposing yourself to health risks. European managers know my pedigree, if I tell them any player is good such player will be signed on."

Taking cues from his gaffe during the Nigeria/Argentina international friendly in Dhakar which saw lionel Messi robbing him off the ball and passing to Higuain who scored and his recent performance during the Chelsea/Liverpool match, Chris Green, Chairman technical committe, Nigeria Football Federation has asked Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel to be mindful of his football errors or face being sent out of the national team.
Speaking further on his absence during the two friendlies against Botswana and Zambia, only to play for his club side four days later, Chris Green said that he wouldn't interfere in the case, he would rather allow the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi make decisions.

The name Sani kaita, easily rings bell in the ears of football loving Nigerians, it would be recalled that the Ukraine-based midfielder got a red card against Nigeria and Greece match at the 2010 world cup in South Africa, and thus changed the entire game. The erstwhile Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia consequently removed him from the National team.
Speaking in a recent interview, Keita stated that he is worming his way into the team and has spoken to New Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi for a comeback.
"I can't wait to return to the Super Eagles to continue where I stopped. I've been playing week in, week out for my club for several months now and I know that based on current form, I merit a return to the national team." He concluded.
