UTD'S WAYNE ROONEY AND SON KAI IN WALKAROUND AFTER LAST HOME MATCH OF THE SEASON Manchester United v Bournemouth, Barclays Premier League

Kai Rooney, son of Manchester United star, Wayne Rooney is stepping into his father’s big shoes as the six-year-old lad has reportedly joined the Red Devils' youth development squad.
Kai is also joined by Michael Carrick's son Jacey

“The kids seem to love it and have been coming down regularly in the week to train with the young development squad. It’s a bit funny because both their dads aren’t playing as much anymore but these guys could be the club’s stars of the future.” A source close to the club hinted.

England captain, Wayne Rooney has been accused of trying hard to be like Italian footballer, Andrea Pirlo by ex  Ireland star Tony Cascarino.
Cascarino said the 30 year-old who stunned fans after playing in a much deeper position during Slovakia clash over estimated his own ability to dictate games from midfield.
“I was lucky enough to play with Glenn Hoddle and he could play a pass blind. “He didn’t have to lift his head up to know where the strikers or wingers wanted the ball, he was always one step ahead and able to play that killer round-the-corner ball.
“It’s the same with Andrea Pirlo. Ridiculously England’s midfield has three of the same in Wayne Rooney, Eric Dier and Jordan Henderson — constantly needing to lift their heads, making it much easier for the opposition to read what will happen next and pick off the pass.
“It’s a split-second thing but a vital one at the highest level. “Rooney thinks he is Pirlo, dropping deep and wanting to dictate play, but he’s not a midfielder and not the great Italian. “They just don’t look like a proper midfield unit who know how to take a back four apart.
“I was shocked with the selection of these three in the first place. Sam Allardyce has always had a midfielder who is a nuisance in the opposition box, such as Kevin Nolan at Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United and West Ham United, but there was none of that yesterday.”

Wayne Rooney has expressed his eagerness to work under Jose Mourinho- the new manager of Manchester United next season. The English skipper who is ready to prove his worth to the new boss also branded the 'Special One'  a tactician and successful coach who will turn things around at Old Trafford.

He told  Manchester United magazine, “I’m really excited to be working with Jose this season as he’s one of the best managers in the world. It’s an exciting time for Manchester United. I’ve always respected him both as a man and a manager, he’s a nice guy and one of the most successful managers of all time. I like to think I’m always motivated as a player but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit more motivated when a new manager comes in. I’m sure all the lads will be happy to be working under Jose and also eager to impress.
“I’ve played against many Mourinho sides over the years and I can’t remember any easy games, so I think that says it all. His teams are always hard to beat, tactically disciplined and, most importantly, successful.
“He’ll bring all these qualities with him and I’m sure he’ll have his own ideas, but one of the biggest assets will be his experience. He’s managed a lot of successful teams throughout his career and all that experience will be vital.”

England captain, Wayne Rooney has has backed national team coach, Roy Hodgson to stay on as national team manager. The ex Liverpool manager has been in charge for four years but his contract expires after Euro 2016. Rooney however believes he deserves an extension.

He told BBC Sport, ‘It is down to his bosses but of course, as players, we want him to stay. It shouldn’t go unnoticed the amount of young players he’s introduced into the squad over the last four years. There was a big issue in terms of everyone saying we didn’t have the young players coming through in England which other countries had. In fairness to the Premier League clubs they’ve brought young players through and Roy has picked them.

He continued, ‘In my opinion he has not only created a very good team but also a fantastic atmosphere around the training ground when we meet up, and a great base for England’s future in the next six to eight years.’

Wayne Rooney had to ask Morgan Schneiderlin who Manchester United-bound forward Anthony Martial is, the midfielder has revealed. United captain Rooney approached his French teammate after the defeat to Swansea, when reports were first emerging that manager Louis van Gaal was trying to buy Monaco forward Martial, in a bid to discover about the 19- year-old.

Schneiderlin, who is in the France squad with Martial, replied that the teenager has similarities with Thierry Henry.

"To be honest, [on Sunday] on the plane, Wayne Rooney came to speak to me and asked me who Martial was, because the English press had started to speak," the former Southampton player told reporters in France.

"I told him he's a great player with great potential, who has played some good matches with Monaco last season and the beginning of this. I told him he is technical and powerful. A little like Thierry Henry, even if it's the press who are making that comparison."

L'Equipe has reported that the deal could eventually be worth €80 million, which would be a higher fee than Real Madrid paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

Wayne Rooney has played down criticisms over his performance in the new striking role he has played since the commencement of the season. The England and United captain insists that he has had only one poor game which was Friday's 1-0 win against Aston Villa.

"It's early on in the season," Rooney said. "Three games in, it's time for me to keep going. I've experienced this before and the goals will come, I know that."

Rooney was disappointed with his display at Villa Park but happier with his performance in United's 3-1 win over Club Brugge at Old Trafford on Tuesday, when he had a shot cleared off the line.
"I'm an honest guy," he added. "I know when I don't play well and against Aston Villa I was below my standards. I know that. I thought I had a good game [on Tuesday], could have had a goal or two, but that's football. It was a great night for us, obviously, getting the victory and hopefully we'll kick on from there."

Rooney was United's 14-goal top scorer last season, despite spending much of the campaign in midfield, but with Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao at new clubs, he has been installed as the main centre-forward by manager Louis Van Gaal. And the third-highest scorer in United's history is ready to accept the responsibility for finding the net.

"I understand I have to be the one who's going to lead that line for us and try and [get] the goals for us," he said. "My mind's clear. I know how to play the role. It's just a case of getting the chances and taking them which I'm hopefully going to do soon."

While Rooney's wait for a goal goes on, summer signing Memphis Depay opened his account with a brace against Club Brugge before substitute Marouane Fellaini added an injury-time third. And Rooney believes the whole side have to contribute, explaining: "Memphis has chipped in with two goals and Felli's came on and got a goal. "It's important that we all chip in. He [Depay] managed to get off the mark this season. I've had one bad game this season and everyone's all over it. I know, I've had that throughout my career but hopefully at the weekend I can get off the mark."

United face Newcastle, who have been favourite opponents of Rooney's in the past, next, and he added: "I've always enjoyed playing against Newcastle, so hopefully on Saturday I can open my scoring."

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has shrugged off criticism of Wayne Rooney's form and said he cannot understand suggestions his captain should be moved from the main striking role.
Rooney spent much of last season in midfield, but Van Gaal has installed the 29-year-old as his first-choice centre- forward after the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao.

However, the England captain has had only had two shots in as many fixtures for United this season in their 1-0 wins over Tottenham and Aston Villa -- both of them off target -- and recorded just one touch in the Villa penalty area on Friday.

However, Van Gaal, who feels he was pressured to pick Rooney as a central attacker, says he still has his backing. And while United have not bought a striker this summer he feels he has enough options in the position, with Adnan Januzaj, Javier Hernandez and James Wilson offering competition for places.

He said in a news conference: "All the media has advised me for one year that I have to put him [Rooney] in the striker's position, so it is very amazing that after two matches you are doubting your own opinion. I cannot understand that. "I have always confidence in my players but we don't have only Wayne Rooney in the striker's position. We have Adnan Januzaj. He played in the USA [on United's pre-season tour] in the striker's position. I have given him that chance and he has shown he can do that. "We have Chicharito [Hernandez] and we have Wilson, so I don't think we have a lack of strikers."
Rooney was United's 14-goal top scorer last season but has not struck in his last eight appearances for his club. Van Gaal was asked whether he should consider using Juan Mata, who has played as a right winger and set up Januzaj's winner at Villa, as a No. 10 to improve the supply line.

"Maybe you can ask the board of Manchester United if you are the trainer-coach or the manager and then you can discuss it with your staff," he replied. "I don't discuss it with the media."

Remember ex Manchester star, Rio Ferdinand's Autobiography excerpts on Wayne Rooney? Lemme refresh your memory, the QPR player said Rooney went through phones like sweets and smashed them during his fits of anger. Well, the Englishman has some revelations about his former teammate too.

"I've seen Rio throw a few phones as well. When I was a young lad I was a bit different but I've seen Rio throw a few phones as well. As a young lad you're going through your life in the public eye and doing what normal 16 or 18-year-olds would do. You're arguing with your friends or whoever and you just grow out of that stage." He disclosed.

Seems there's a lot to know in Former Manchester United star, Rio Ferdinand's Autobiography titled 2sides. Last week, we learnt about John Terry whom he branded an idiot for not apologising to his family over the latter's racial issue and then he called his former manager David Moyes confused and embarrassing. This time around, the "spotlight" is on his former team mate, Wayne Rooney's temper.

Excerpts from the QPR defender's book:

'Wayne Rooney always struck me as a very angry young man, always arguing with people outside the training ground, especially on the phone. He seemed to fly into a rage about the smallest things and went through mobile phones like they were sweets. He'd smash phones up in frustration, throwing them on the concrete. I don't know what happened but he did calm down.'

Don't get it wrong. This has nothing to do with Portugal's defeat yesterday. It all started during an interview with Manchester United star, Wayne Rooney on his preparations for the World Cup. He stated that unlike his former team mate Cristiano Ronaldo, he's not driven by personal glory, rather he is after team success.

''I'm not a player who needs a legacy like Cristiano, he has to have that. I'm more about winning as a team. You can see how he is. He wants his moments. It's more important for me to win trophies as a team. I've won PFA Player of the Year, which is nowhere near as good as winning a trophy with Manchester United. I've not won anything this year, so hopefully I can do that now."

Responding to his comments, the Portugal player said he's has nothing to show anyone. "Look at my statistics and my CV – I have nothing to prove. My career has been great so far and I just want that to continue. But I believe that one player is not a team. I am here to help the team. I am an additional player and I can make a difference, but I can't carry the team on my back." He added.
