Ghanaian Actress Jackie Appiah and a few others will appear before Presidential Commission of Inquiry into 2014 World Cup to answer queries related to Ghana's lacklustre performance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Recall that the thespian was one of Ghana's World Cup ambassadors who were paid over $20,000 each on an all-expenses paid trip to Brazil in June to brand the country as well as mobilise cheerleaders/supporters of the Black Stars at the Tournament.

A statement by spokesperson of the Commission, Thomas Boakye Agyemang reads. "The presidential commission of inquiry into Brazil 2014 resumes sitting tomorrow Monday 10.00 am at the Accra Sports Stadium. Expected to appear include Fred Crentsil, Augustine Ahinful, CK Akunnor, Litina Travel and Tours and actress Jackie Appiah."

This looks more than a show of solidarity to me. Seems he's on the UCL title defenders' radar, moreso he wasn't the only player who was injured in the just-concluded tournaent. Some had more grievous injuries. Well, maybe there are "no strings attached".

Giant Spanish club, Real Madrid have written to console Nigeria midfielder Ogenyi Onazi over his injury which he sustained during Nigeria's clash with France at Brazil 2014. Recall that the 21-year old suffered a fractured ankle following a foul from France midfielder Blaise Matuidi .

The letter which was penned by Emilio Butragueno reads thus.

"We have learned about your serious injury during the game you played against France. On behalf of our president Florentino Perez and those who work for Real Madrid, we'd like to wish you a smooth and speedy recovery, as a former professional footballer, I know you are going through a difficult time but I'm utterly convinced that eventually, you'll be back to full fitness to help your team achieve its goals next season."

Arsenal/Germany midfielder, Mesut Ozil just like the Algerian team when they reached the second round of the Brazil 2014 tournament has donated his World Cup winnings to the troubled people of Gaza; a whooping sum of £350,000 [$600,000].

The former Real Madrid player's winnings are in two categories; the £237,000 bonus he received for helping Germany win the final, and the £118,000 he received for Germany's semi- final win.

Who's surprised by this statement? Argentine legend Diego Maradona, while speaking during a TV programme affirmed that Lionel Messi didn't deserve the Golden Ball award at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He said the prize should have gone to Colombia's James Rodriguez.

"I would give heaven and earth to Leo, but when marketing people want him to win something he didn't deserve to win, it is unfair. I could see that he didn't want to go up and collect it. We raised our flag high, there's no doubt about that. Germany won due to a misunderstanding in the defence but at no point were they better than us. They showed us a lot of respect, and our lads earned that out on the pitch."

these pictures, who wouldn't feel for Arjen Robben? The Dutch Winger has been magical in this tournament but unfortunately his team crashed out of the World Cup after losing to Argentina during penalty shoot outs. After the game, the Bayern Munich star walked straight to his wife Bernadien and consoled his son Luka, who was weeping uncontrollably in his mother's arms.

"For me Germany will win the World Cup, no doubt about it. Argentina don't stand a chance." He said during the post-match interview.

This was how Brazilian media reacted to their 7-1 loss to Germany lastnight. Historic humiliation it was!

Their anger is quite understandable! No
one goes through that torment and remains the same. Few minutes after Germany vs Brazil clash ended, a team of immensely angry fans took their injured hero, Neymar's no 10 shirt and burnt it. They also set their flag ablaze after being booed from the stadium. Wait a minute, Neymar wasn't even in the game, why direct their anger at him?

Not a few fans of injured Brazilian star, Neymar Jnr stormed the hospital where he is being treated lastnight after he broke his vertebra during Brazil's clash with Columbia. His girlfriend, Gabriella Bruna is pictured crying as he was stretchered out of the field. The Barcelona player has been ruled out of the 2014 World Cup. Meanwhile, Lasmar, Brazil team doctor says he's expected to be out for 4 to 6 weeks.

Several days after he was banned from the World Cup by FIFA, Uruguay forward, Luis Suarez has issued an apology to the Italy he bit.

My apologies to Chiellini

'After several days of being home with my family, I have had the opportunity to regain my calm and reflect about the reality of what occurred during the Italy-Uruguay match on June 24, 2014.
'Independent from the fallout and the contradicting declarations that have surfaced during these past days, all of which have been without the intention of interfering with the good performance of my national team, the truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chillieni suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me.

'For this: - I deeply regret what occurred.
'I apologise to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family.
'I vow to the public that there will never be another incident like.' He wrote on his personal website.

Chiellini retweeted his tweet and also replied him

"@luis16Suarez: It's all forgotten, I hope FIFA will reduce your suspension"

You people should leave Luis Suarez alone. Someone had better start a #LeaveSuarezAlone movement. The dude has suffered enough. So this naughty US football fan pretends that Suarez is biting him as he takes a selfie next to an advertisement near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil yesterday.

Luis Suárez was doing exceedingly great in the tournament, his top form and excellent performances in Uruguay games were hailed by fans and football lovers across the globe until the ugly incident happened. For biting an opponent (Italy's Giorgio Chiellini) in World Cup clash, the Liverpool striker has been handed a 4-month ban, fined £66,000 and banned from entering any stadium by FIFA committee.

Claudio Sulser, Chairman, FIFA independent disciplinary committee said: "Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a Fifa World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field. The Disciplinary Committee took into account all the factors of the case and the degree of Mr Suárez's guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the code. The decision comes into force as soon it is communicated."

His 9-game suspension for biting is longest EVER in the World Cup. Even if he appeals successfully, he will not be able play in any matches. Luckily, his ban will not affect any possible transfer, so he stands a chance of moving to another club next season, for now, he is on Barcelona's radar.

Meanwhile that's the third time he'll be biting an opponent, I repeat, he should have his front teeth cropped.

Finally someone from football world feels Suarez's pain. Queen Park Rangers (QPR) midfielder, Joey Barton has defended Uruguay striker, Luis Suarez in the heat of criticisms from fans and football lovers all over his latest biting incident. You would recall that the Liverpool playmaker sunk his teeth into the back of Giorgio Chiellini when his team clashed with Italy few days back.

The English Footballer's take is that nobody is perfect and a leg breaking tackle is worse than biting. He added he is a winner and his punishment isn't the end of the world.

"He's at it again! Should Suarez face a lengthy ban of 2+ years? I love Suarez. I love his passion for the game. I would have him on my team everyday of the week. I am also aware you can't defend him here. All things considered I'd rather receive a bite than a leg breaking challenge. Whilst he should be punished, it is not the end of the world. He's a winner. If that means he occasionally steps over the line between right and wrong, than thats what comes with the territory. Nobody's perfect." He wrote on his twitter page.

Photography has a way of stirring up emotions. I love this wonderful shot. Osaze's look is priceless! The picture was taken shortly before the match (Argentina and Nigeria) started. The game ended 3-2 in favour of Argentina

No doubts, this dude needs help. Someone should also consider cropping his front teeth. Uruguay striker, Luis Suarez might face two years ban over latest biting incident at the World Cup, FIFA has confirmed. The Liverpool star appeared to have sunk his teeth into the back of Giorgio Chiellini when his team clashed with Italy last night.

A statement from FIFA spokesperson reads thus, "We are awaiting the official match reports and will gather all the necessary elements in order to evaluate the matter."

Jim Boyce, Britain's FIFA vice-president and head of FIFA's referees committee, also voiced his concerns about Suarez's actions. "I have watched the incident several times on television. There is no doubt Luis Suarez is a fantastic footballer but, once again, his actions have left him open to severe criticism. FIFA must investigate the incident seriously and take whatever disciplinary action deemed necessary."

This has got to do with the Nigeria Vs Iran match which ended goalless draw few weeks ago. According to Africanfootball.com, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi is not really happy with the way some abusive Nigerian fans hurled insults at him and criticised his antics during the opening group game at the World Cup in Brazil.

"I am disappointed, totally disappointed by the personal attacks, but it's their thing, no wahala. It's a shame, just a shame that we keep doing the same thing and then they come back and they say they are sorry. Sorry for abusing my mum? Sorry for abusing my siblings? For what? That I am representing Nigeria?" He stated.

To be very candid, I understand Keshi's point and there's really no justification for the insults but really it was only natural for fans to react and express their opinion about the game. No one will give the team kudos when their performance is lacklustre.

If you saw the game between Portugal and USA last night, you would have noticed World best footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo's new funky haircut. He might not have tossed the net yet but the Real Madrid talisman is making headlines at the moment.

The haircut initially attracted a lot of negative comments from fans who claimed he should focus on registering his name in the World Cup score-sheet rather than enriching barbers but in actual fact it was a tribute to a cancer patient.

According to reports, the zig-zag shaved into the Portuguese's hair is to match the scar of a young fan, Erik Ortiz Cruz who recently had his brain tumor removed. Ronaldo actually paid £50,000 for his surgery. He might be a little selfish on pitch, but he is one thing off pitch, Selfless. And that's not the first time he'll be footing patients' hospital bills. You've got to respect him for that seeming little act.

Coming from Mario Balotelli, this should be a little surprising. The Italian wants a kiss from the Queen of England if Italy beats Costa Rica and keep England's World Cup hopes alive. He wrote this on his official twitter account.

Balotelli might not have this request granted (in his dreams tho') if Italy loses to or draws with Costa Rica this evening or if Italy beat Costa Rica but fail to beat Uruguay on Tuesday. England will remain in this tournament only if Italy beats both Costa Rica and Uruguay and England beat Costa Rica.

Asides the fact that his team has not done badly so far, Netherlands winger, Arjen Robben has added another achievement to his list. He is now the world's fastest footballer.
