Remember Luis Suarez's infamous 4-month ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup? The Barcelona/Uruguay forward in a recent interview with Span's Radio Catalunya revealed the lies he told his daughter, who asked why he wasn't playing after he was banned.

"When my daughter asked me why I was not playing, it hurt me very much. I had to face it. At first I said it was because of the knee. But people told me to be sincere to her because she is becoming aware of everything.'

He later braced up to tell her the truth.

'I think it was during the match between Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano earlier in the season. She asked me why I was not playing and at the end I said: 'Dad had a red card because he did a mistake, because dad is human and he is not perfect.' She has since not asked anymore. I explained everything (to her) and she understood it.'

Brilliant response!!

According to reports, FIFA is yet to release $9m prize-money Nigeria earned for appearing at the 2014 World Cup because of the lingering crisis rocking the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). This was revealed by the NFF general secretary, Musa Amadu in a recent radio interview in Abuja

"The money is ready, but the katakata (crisis) we have had has meant we are yet to access it. We believe that once everything is sorted, we will get the cash." He added.

He also mentioned that the NFF would offset the $3.8 million Super Eagles World Cup appearance fee advanced to them by the federal government.‎

"We have a memo from the sports ministry reminding us of our obligation to the government and once we get the money, we will pay up," he said.

With the number of people who stormed the streets for celebrations, who would dare own up? Germany's World Cup trophy sustained some damages during wild celebrations in Berlin. Infact, Wolfgang Niersbach, President, German Football Federation has revealed that a small piece of it is now missing.

"At one point, a small piece of our World Cup trophy was chipped off. But do not worry! We have specialists on the case who can fix it. We have investigated persistently who it was that damaged the trophy, but the investigation was concluded without a result.

So no one wants to 'fess up to breaking the big prize, huh? That's very surprising. But whoever the culprit is, they can find comfort in knowing that at least they did not destroy the real thing. " He added.

This is one of the most trending news on Cristiano Ronaldo now. According to reports, shortly after a friendly playoff between Israel and Portugal before the World Cup, the Real Madrid player refused to swap a jersey with an Israeli player because he could not agree to wear a jersey on which there was the flag of the State of Israel.

His reply when reporters asked him why he did that, "I do not exchange my shirt with murderers". Meanwhile today makes it exactly 5 years that the Portuguese talisman was presented as a Real Madrid player, in front of 80,000 fans at the Bernabéu.

Super Eagles manager, Stephen Keshi has revealed that goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama is to blame for Nigeria's World Cup exit. According to him, Enyeama's failure to clear a corner 11 minutes to the end of the game between Nigeria and France yesterday gave the opponent a lead.

"Enyeama had to make a decision and I don't know why he went for it like that. It's his call and it cost us. It was a big moment. I don't know why African teams don't go further. If I were out there on the pitch, I would never want to go home. Probably some of the players are not focused enough. We will have to review this."

Meanwhile the former Nigerian player reportedly told players in the dressing room shortly after the game that he might quit his job as coach. Joseph Yobo who has also announced his retirement from international football. Rumour has it that Stephen Keshi might take up a coaching job at South Africa (National team).

According to Goal.com, Super Eagles players boycotted training yesterday following a disagreement over appearance fees for progressing beyond the group stage of the World Cup. Recall that they threatened to boycott the 2013 Confederations Cup over the slash of their win bonus.

Their coach and officials were left bewildered after they refused to show up at the Estadio Guarani, venue of their training. Soldiers and police officers waited endlessly to accompany the team to the stadium, fans who waited outside to catch a glimpse of the players were disappointed too, so were pressmen. However, after an hour, the team's media officer, Ben Alaiya, came out to tell the press that the players were in a meeting and that training might still take place.

They stated that it would be difficult to claim the bonus when they leave the tournament on Monday. To avoid "stories that touch the heart" and a repeat of what happened at the 2010 World Cup when the federation delayed payment of their appearance fees, in a meeting with the management, they insisted that the bonus be paid to them before their clash with France on Monday.

Meanwhile NFF general secretary, Musa Amadu has left Brazil for Abuja to facilitate the release of funds from government coffers. With their failure to train on Thursday, it is not yet known if the team who is scheduled to depart for Brasilia today will board the flight.

*Super Eagles took "VEXpa with them to Brazil. Biko go oooo, board flight. No vex

There's been not a few surprises since the World Cup began almost a week ago. But there's a particular one that is really dominating discourse. Australian player, Mark Bresciano's act of kindness shortly before his team clashed with Chile few days ago has gone viral online.

Photos of the player taking out time to help a boy on crutches tie his shoe laces which had come undone has been tagged the World Cup's most enduring image by Fox Sports.

Even if you all are sleeping, you should know who that 'one' person is. Well, he's no other person than Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi. The Stamford bridge boss who wrote Ghana off earlier on has backed Nigeria to make it to the next round........ because of him.

The former Real Madrid coach was quoted in an interview: "Argentina has to be the group winner and what makes me decide for Nigeria is the fact that I have there one player there."

He has also tipped Ivory Coast to succeed because of that player Chelsea fans still hold in high respect- Didier Drogba. "I'm very emotional, I go always with my friends." The Portuguese added.

Wow! That's a startling revelation. And I so feel for him. Manchester United striker, Robin Van Persie during a press conference on Sunday ahead of the 2014 World Cup revealed that he has been nursing a pain in his groin for the last six years.

"I've been playing in pain for the last five or six years; every single game. I can't really think of one game where I didn't have a niggle or pain somewhere. I'm used to that. I know, together with the team and with the medical staff, how to deal with that. I'm the one who looks at that and manages that. You can't really even call it an injury". He told newsmen.
