Life is edging back to normal in Liberia after the country was declared free of the Ebola Virus Disease by World Health Organization (‎WHO) few weeks back.

Another big news for football administration of the country is that the‎ Confederation of African Football has lifted the ‎suspension imposed on them which barred Ebola- hit countries from hosting continental matches at home.

CAF says on its website that it lifted the ban after it obtained a confirmation letter from the (WHO). Now, that Ebola has been wiped out, football matches can now be organised in any part of the West African country.

Meanwhile, ‎Guinea and Sierra Leone, two other African
countries still affected by the EVD are still suspended.

"However, WHO confirms that the situation of the Ebola epidemic in Guinea and Sierra Leone requires that CAF keeps its precautionary principle, and asks the concerned teams to organise their matches on a neutral ground," a‎ CAF statement adds.‎

CAF says the AFCON 2015 play-off between Nigeria and Congo will go ahead in Calabar despite an appeal by Congolese football officials that game be moved to a neutral venue owing to fears of the dreaded Ebola Virus.

The Africa football ruling body in a statement on its official website said it has not changed the pre-announced schedule of fixtures for match days one and two of the final group phase of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2015, adding that Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia are the only countries required to relocate their fixtures to neutral stadia.

So, come September 6, 2014, Nigeria will be playing their first game in the qualifying series at the UJ Eusene Stadium in Calabar, Cross River State.

CAF have announced the disqualification of Rwanda from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (AFCON) for using a dual-identity player; Birori Dady. After series of investigations, CAF found out that Rwanda fielded an ineligible player in the first leg of their qualifying match against Congo. Birori who plays for AS Vita Club with a Congolese (DRC) passport was using the name Etekiama Agiti Tady, with a different age.

A statement from CAF reads thus. "The protest by Congo contested the eligibility of the player Birori Dady aligned with Rwanda, and plays for the AS Vita Club of Kinshasa with Congolese (DRC) passport as Etekiama Agiti Tady, and a different age.

"Following investigations by CAF and on the basis of documents provided by the federations of Rwanda, Congo and DR Congo, and hearing the player's testimony on 11 August 2014 at CAF headquarters in Cairo, CAF established that the two identities only referred to a single person.

"While the Rwandan Football Federation (FERWAFA) maintained that to their knowledge the player Dady Birori had one identity, investigations revealed that he was summoned as Etekiama Agiti Tady by FERWAFA to join the national team of Rwanda."

The Super Eagles were initially meant to meet Rwanda in October at Calabar, Nigeria, they will now face Congo in Group A of the AFCON 2015 qualifiers.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF after a thorough investigation has banned Gambia from all competitions (African's Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions) for two years for fielding over-aged players.
Their five players paraded in the Liberia-Gambia qualifier were born in 1994 but the competition was only open to players born on 1 January 1995 or after.

The sanction was announced on Saturday, May 3, 2014. According to a statement by CAF, the decision to suspend the Gambia FA for two years from all CAF competitions is in line with 'Article 37 Paragraph 1' of the regulations of the African U-20 Championship, which states "for any deliberate intention to foul or cheat in any matter involving the falsification of documents, the defaulting association shall be suspended for two years from all CAF competitions".

I really don't know the correlation between his team's recent defeat at the UEFA Champions League and Jose Mourinho's input. Manchester City midfielder, who insisted the game would have favoured them if a "good referee had officiated" has slammed Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho for always talking about everyone. (coaches, players and teams I guess)

According to Marca, the three time CAF award-winner said, "I think he talks more than before, perhaps because the English press likes it. He is a coach and he must give respect a little bit. He is always talking about everyone and that is not the correct way. That is why Barcelona always beat Madrid when Mourinho was here in Spain."

Asides the not-too-impressive performance of the Super Eagles since the whole African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament started, the officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) think Nigeria has been a victim of unfair refeering decisions.

Citing the two games played so far, (against Burkina Faso and Zambia), they claim the bookings were not only too much but Ogenyi Onazi's red card was uncalled for.

They have therefore penned their complaints to CAF and even requested for fairer treatment.
Did NFF go overboard? Or was writing the petition right and timely?
